The channel administrators and ops are here to help. We don't make the channel what it is, you do - it'd be a fairly dull place without users. Sometimes there are problems. though, and we have to get involved to sort them out.

The primary function of the ops and admins is to keep the channel a safe, pleasant place to be. This effectively comes down to two functions: making sure the rules are (broadly) followed, and removing undesirables (trolls, spammers, etc.).

The vast majority of the channel finds the rules to be reasonable. If you find something you don't like, or think a rule needs changing, talk to either me, Foxcub, or WaveFox, and we'll have a think about your idea. ChanServ keeps the URL for the rules in the topic, and therefore ignorance is really no excuse for bad behaviour.

Showing disregard for the rules of the channel is not acceptable. If you do, you'll be given a single warning, explaining clearly what it is you're doing wrong. Typically, these warnings will be given on-channel, although in some cases they may be given in a private message. If rulebreaking continues, consider yourself fair game for a ban: for minor problems, these are temporary, and expire automatically within six hours. After this time, if you come back and continue to disregard our rules, a longer ban may be set, at the discretion of the Op or Admin setting the ban. Permement bans may only be set by a channel administrator, and are used only as a last resort for the most serious of offences.

Should you feel that you have been treated unfairly by an op or administrator, talk to Foxcub or WaveFox, and we will do our best to investigate and come to an independent decision.
