Action
Kamen
Shin-chan's idol. Action Kamen is a superhero on a live-action
TV show that Shin-chan watches religiously. In the manga,
Action Kamen even gave Shin-chan an autograph but he didn't
put it on a piece of paper... Action Kamen's evil nemesis is Meke
Meke who embodies all that is evil which just happens to
including smoking cigarettes. A cigarette seems to be a
permanent fixture on Meke Meke. He even has one firmly
clenched between his teeth during the fast and frenzied fights
with Action Kamen. Anyway, the techniques that Action Kamen
uses against evil-doers include "Action Beam!" and
"Action Beam Ball!" Unfortunately,
Shin-chan's attempts to duplicate these techniques on his
mother haven't been quite as successful.

Kantamu
(Kuntam) Robo
Machine Robo. Gundam. Raideen. Mazinger Z. Giant Robo. Chances
are if you can think of a " giant robot" anime show,
Kuntam probably parodies it. Kuntam Robo is a " giant
robot" show that Shin-chan watches almost as religiously
as Action Kamen. The title "Kuntam Robo" is
the most obvious parody since Kuntam is spelled almost
exactly the same as Gundam. Trying to explain the
multitude of in-jokes after that would be a loosing cause. The
only guidance that can be offered here would be to watch a
bunch of giant robot shows and then watch Kuntam Robo. It's
almost guaranteed that anytime that you re-watch a Kuntam Robo
segment, you'll find a new joke that you didn't notice before!

Fumie
(Mimiko?)
She looks identical to Action Kamen's sweet and caring
child sidekick, Mimiko, but the character on TV but her true
self are two entirely different things. There are some kids
who are so full of themselves that they act like 50 year old
people trapped in a childrens' bodies. Fumie is one of these
kids.
She babysits Shin-chan frequently but that isn't to say that
she enjoys it. As soon as Shin-chan's mother leaves, she'll
camp out in front of the TV and watch soaps. Shin-chan, being
the "eagar boy" that he is, wants to play with her
but she'll have none of it. The only time that Fumie will
voluntarily interact with Shin-chan is when she thinks she'll
get some satisfaction out of proving how much superior she is
to Shin-chan. Considering how pitiful her school grades are,
using a normal child in her ego trips could potentially
backfire on her. Going one step beyond (cue the Madness song)
and trying to do the same thing with Shin-chan could be
classified as nothing less than shear suicidal stupidity.

Shinobu
A girl of about college age. Like the regular return of
monsoon season every year in some parts of the world,
Shin-chan has made regular appearances in her life with some
undesirable side effects.. So far Shin-chan has managed to get
her fired from every part time job that she has ever held.
After sending her life crashing down around her several time,
Shin-chan's name is firmly implanted in her mind but everytime
that their paths cross, Shin-chan says the same thing,
"Who are you?"

Jigoku
no Saleslady (Saleslady from Hell)
As the song goes, I can't understand why she walks like
a woman but talks like a man.. This woman is a
door-to-door saleswoman for a company that makes books and
audio cassette tapes for young children. Unfortunately for
this "woman", her appearance tends to scare the hell
out of young children which means that her sales are pitiful.
Shin-chan is also firmly convinced that this woman is actually
a man. However, this hasn't deterred her and she has gone to
the mountains for rigorous training in the secret arts of the
travelling saleswomen. Still, her habit of blowing a kiss
sends a chill down Shin-chan's spine.. even when she's halfway
across town.

Keiko
Honda (Okei-oneesan)
Being Misae's closest friend gives her the
"enviable" role of being Shin-chan's
"aunt". In fact, Okei and Misae are so close that at
times it might seem as if they were related. Being so close
also has its disadvantages.. she is often recruited to babysit
Shin-chan. Because of her age, she likes to have Shin-chan
call her oneesan (big sister) but Shin-chan calls her obasan
instead. Obasan is translated as aunt but the word also
has other connotations.. namely, old lady. While she
finds being called obasan somewhat annoying, up to this point,
she's been unusually forgiving of just about everything that
Shin-chan has done. The fact that she's hasn't responded with
any sort of physical retribution make it hard to understand
just how she could be such close friends with a person so
different in temperment like Misae (aka The Physical
Embodiment of Vengence).
Okei's also is a newlywed and loves her husband. Although her
husband is apparently very sucessful and is also what her
older sister Misae refers to as a "hunk", he is not
without his "idiosyncrasies". Her tolerent nature
seems to allow her overlook them but her ability to do this
can't be easily dismissed because her husband's secret, to put
it bluntly, is that he's an giant anime otaku. Her husband
even has a buddy-buddy picture of himself with Action
Kamen.

Nene-chan
no Kaasan
Nene-chan's mother. Although Nene-chan might be immune to
Shin-chan's shenanigans, her mother is a entirely different
story. The few encounters that she has had with Shin-chan has
left a rather deep impression on her -- somewhat like the
impression that a sledgehammer would make. To give her some
credit, she makes a superhuman effort to retain her composure
whenever Shin-chan is around. This goes as far as to politely
excuse herself, go to another room, and beat the stuffing out
of a teady bear. Unfortunately, venting her rage in this
manner is almost completely useless when Shin-chan is
concerned. She has lost complete control on more than one
occassion and if the more recent times that she has lost
control are any indication, she'll probably make some
psychiatrist a very rich person.. From what little has been
seen of her husband, he doesn't appear to be in much better
shape (plus he is terrified of bugs).

"Ji-chan"
Nohara
Shin-chan's grandfather. His personality is very much like
Shin-chan's and he regularly wears a sweater with a very large
H on it. Perhaps this is proof that Shin-chan's
condition is hereditary?
