Storm damage suffered to the main deck aft while on convoy duty in the North Atlantic, proving nature can be more punishing than man.

storm damage on Nevada

The Nevada crossed and re-crossed the Atlantic shepherding cargo ships, undergoing countless submarine and air alerts, battling storms and touching at ports in New York, Maine, Massachusetts, and Ireland. It was dreary duty, but the liberties were good. In the Spring of 1944, tension mounted on both sides of hte Atlantic. The Big Day was approaching.
