2001 "Slap Shots"
Hockey WorkOut has announced new league rule change for the
new 2001 Fall HTHL season.
HTHL Rule Changes
Hockey WorkOut has made a league decision to break up organized team
entry into its Womens League. The league wants to create teams
from a pool of players to balance the game play on the ice. This
is a move toward similiar league play such as in the NCWHL in Belmont.
Hockey WorkOut's Player Pool Versus Organized Teams
The rumor of Hockey WorkOut going from organized teams to a player
pool selection for team play appears to be just that - a rumor. The
2001 Fall season of the HTHL Womens league began with four teams
on Saturday, October 20 but was reorganized to three teams, including
the Rebels, a week later due to lack of participating players.
Hockey WorkOut continues to recommend...
Suiting up and doing a pre-game warm up on the in-house shooting rink
before game time. With the desire for more teams wanting to playing
in the established in-house leagues, pre-game warm ups on the game ice
have been limited to accommodate zamboni ice cutting and the 45-minutes
game running time.
2001 Fall season play
Team defense, -12 in goal differential for the season, played near
flawless hockey in its final game to provide the offense time to
shine when the opportunities to score arose. In the end, the Rebels
could not do any better as a team. They were near perfect AND now
the HTHL 2001 Fall Champions!
Claire, acquired by the Spitfire, will begin fulltime
netminder duties for the team starting with game 9 in the season
schedule.
The Rebels were reserving judgment in organized team participation
due to the rumors. As the league reduced its number of teams to a
healthy three teams and altered the season's playing schedule, the
Rebels came to the aid of the league by submitting a full team
roster including additions of Ruth Schwarz and Christin
Zienkiewicz.
Splitting/performing netminder duties will be Cara and Claire.
2001 Summer season play
Vacation anyone?
The Rebels took the summer off (only the second time in three years)
for player vacations and a new emerging power house, the Spitfire,
was making its presence known.
2001 Spring season play
The Rebels won their playoff game in exciting fashion while a forfeit
by the Polar Cats, due to insufficient player lineup, gave the
Rebels' 3-on-3 team its fifth championship title in the league's
short history.
2001 Winter season play
The season begins with the returning Champion Hot Biscuits,
Ice Queens, Rebels and a new fourth team named the Polar
Cats. The season turns out to be a two team race with an exciting
championship game.
