2002 "Slap Shots"

Hockey WorkOut's 2002 Spring begins April 13, 2002

Hockey WorkOut is planning to move the Women's League to Friday night with an 8:00pm start time to accommodate multiple Travelling Kid leagues on Saturday beginning at 7:00am during the 2002 Spring and 2002 Summer seasons. The Women's League would go back to Saturday in the 2002 Fall and 2003 Winter seasons.

Hockey WorkOut continues to recommend...
hockey 'toon Suiting up and doing a pre-game warm up on the in-house shooting rink before game time. With the desire for more teams wanting to playing in the established in-house leagues, pre-game warm ups on the game ice have been limited to accommodate zamboni ice cutting and the 45-minutes game running time.

2002 Spring season play

  • The Rebels will be on vacation for the season but plan to return in three months or so to challenge for another 3-on-3 championship.

    2002 Winter season play
    The Winter 3-on-3 season ended with two teams. The returning Champion Rebels won the division title by a 3-game margin with a 7-4 record. No playoff or championship games were played during this season.

  • Jan. 26 - Since Hockey WorkOut could not recruit enough players to define rosters for two additional teams in the tentatively planned three team league, the league has been reduced to two teams: The Rebels plus the combination team of remaining 2001 Fall players from the Polar Cats and Spitfire.
  • Hockey WorkOut continues to have problems trying to obtain players to define rosters for two additional teams in the tentatively planned three team league. The first two weeks (Jan. 19 and Jan 26) of the new season were treated as exhibition games.
  • The Rebels had submitted player/team monies for the upcoming 2002 Winter season in the Hat Trick Hockey League Women's Division. The roster had returning skaters Carol H., Carol S., Christin, Jeanne, Joan, Lina, Linda and Traci. Performing netminder duties was Rebels' team newcomer Elizabeth.
