Valerie did not do much the first week. She basically
slept, cried, and had to have her diaper changed. I nursed her about every 2 hours. She
could sleep at night for a maximum of 4-5 hours, so I got used to not sleeping much.

Matt took three weeks off of work, so he could
help me out and enjoy fatherhood. Sometimes he would give her a bottle, so that
I could sleep. Neither of us got much sleep the first week; it was definitely an
adjustment.

Towards the end of the week, Valerie became a little
more alert. She was awake a little more during the day, but she still did not
sleep that well at night.
