EPILOGUE

Maybe not everything goes as you want it to. But I felt safe now. The girls and I lived with Richard for a year before Richard and I dated. The dating, however, lasted only a month before we were married. I needed him. I had fallen in love with this man who had been so involved in my life so quickly.
My life had taken paths that I hadn't expected. Many of those paths were not only unexpected, but also rough and harsh. But I had made it out okay. So had the girls. The secrets of my past truly didn't matter any longer. I decided that I would no longer tango with the dark secrets that lay in the closets of my family. If they were secrets, there had to be a reason for it. They caused not only pain, but also stress. I wanted only to be happy with my family now. I didn't need stress. I wouldn't allow it back into my life again. Not if I could help it.
I realise now that happily ever after truly does exist. Just not in the way we think it does. Happily ever after lives in our hearts. After all, the people I loved would keep me forever happy; dead, alive, it didn't matter. The people you love are what makes the world go 'round. And that is all that matters.
