Velocity Team Ric Studney - Senior Consultant Shortly after completing his education in Sask. Ric moved to Yellowknife, NWT and developed a Materials Management function and organization for Indian & Northern Affairs, a jurisdiction that included the NWT and the Arctic. Ric then accepted senior Materials Management positions in southern Alberta including responsibilities for the construction and ongoing operations of Crowsnest Resources Line Creek open pit coal mine. Line Creek was an entirely new operation, which was brought on line at a record setting pace of thirty-six (36) months and a capital expenditure of $750 million. Ric then accepted senior assignments with: Prince George Public School District, Alberta (ATCO) Power Ltd., Trimac Transportation and Netricom (a wholly owned division of Axia Netmedia). All of these assignments were to lead significant strategic changes in the Supply Chain Management function and overall organization. Ric brokered his negotiating skills with School District 57 to resolve long-standing union-management issues and acquired valuable Human Resource skills. Ric has twenty-five years of Supply Chain Management experience. As a consultant for Netricom, a wholly owned division of Axia Netmedia, (largest connectivity and network integrator in Canada with nine Branches) Ric established a Supply Chain Management function from top-to-bottom, evaluated, procured, tested, implemented and trained staff in the use of an integrated business and operating system (UNIX). This system impacted: payroll, accounting, purchasing, inventory control and job costing. There was a point in that implementation wherein Ric was required to manage the Accounting function. As a consultant for Parts Canada (largest Canadian distributor of motorcycle parts and related clothing and accessories) Ric worked closely with the President to understand what the future role would be for Purchasing in a purchasing dependent organization. As a result, the assignment became a recruitment task that was completed on time and on budget. The results of this assignment continue to effect this fast growing business in a very real and positive manner.
