Thomas Martin was born Abt. 1779 in Witton, Huntingdonshire, Eng, son of Elizabeth and Thomas Martin, and died 28 January 1833 in Deeping Fens, Spalding, Lincolnshire, Eng. He married 12 April 1806 in Witton, Huntingdonshire, ENG, to Betty Blott daughter of John Blott and Sarah, born Abt. 1786 in Witton, Huntingdonshire, ENG, and died Bef. 29 January 1843 in Brighton, VIC
Mary Martin b Abt. 1815 in Spalding, Lincolnshire, d 12 August 1881 Bairnsdale, VIC aged 65. She m. Edwin Leadbetter 26 December 1839 in Melbourne, Vic. He was b Abt. 1817 in York, ENG, and d. May 1866 in VIC aged 49. Mary, Sarah Eliza and Annie were all baptised 1851 at St Marks, CofE Collingwood.

The Inquest - VPRS/24/p0000 34 1856/551 on John Leahy's death says "14 August 1856 - Inquiry held at Portland of the body of John Lehey found dead". In the Supreme Court Administration Grant - VPRS/29/p19 2/88 - it is signed by Ellen Leahy "... In the Goods of John Leahy late of Portland..."

When Ellen McCarthy died John her husband was already dead. Her Death Certificate says that Anne or Annie was dead, Margaret abt 45, Rebecca abt 43, John abt 39, James (or Jane) 37, Richard 36, Ellen (or Helen) dead and Francis was dead. Her Death Certificate was signed by her son John. However details obtained from Portland "History House" in indicate that Richard was dead and Francis was alive.
