In 1986 Dave Henderson's game five homer. Anaheim was preparing
for a history's worth of celebration. Its Angels were one
out away from the World Series, one strike from adding another
chapter to the book of Red Sox playoff misfortunes and one
moment away from labeling Dave Henderson as the goat of Game
5 in the American League Championship Series of 1986. Then
from there, it was the infamous World Series. The Red Sox
just an out away, just one struck away from their first World
Championship since 1918, tradegy struck. After some clutch
hits by the Mets a little roller was hit off the bat of Willie
Randolph. Ray Knight ran from second as the ball dribbled
through Bill Buckner's legs, the Mets win, the Mets win. The
Sox would later lose Game 7 to the Mets, where they also had
a lead late in the ball game. And since then, we wait for
another chance at the World Series, the Sox have one of the
best shortstops in the game, in Nomar
Garciaparra, the best pitcher in baseball, in Pedro
Martinez and with the addition of slugger Manny
Ramirez, they hope the future is bright. Good Luck Red
Sox and Good Luck to the millions, and millions of the Red
Sox fans, hang in there.
