Hello Nation, another
big series with the Yanks starts today (weather permitting),
I hope they play, I need my Manny fix, I am addicted.
Recap of last week, let us start with Cone. David had
a decent outing but obviously he needs to pitch better
than that to help the Sox rotation. Now to another starter,
Frank Castillo had a great weel of baseball, he pitched
12 innings without allowing an earned run. Hopefully he
can continue to pitch like this and be the Red Sox number
two starter. Finally, Varitek, he finally showed up. Jason
carried a solid .280 batting average throughout the season
but that does not count it. I would rather have Jason
bat .260 in a season and hit 20+ bombs and knock in 70+
runs, than bat .280 and hit 10 homers with 50 RBI. Jason
does a solid job behind the plate but he still needs to
hit and maybe this season Jason will have a season like
he did in '99', when he hit 20 homers and knocked in 76
runs. Well, I hope the Sox play tonight, I think they
will, mainly because they have not cancelled it yet and
it is five o'clock and all of Red Sox nation needs their
Manny fix. Good-bye Nation!

Hello Red Sox Nation,
it was an exciting weekend to say the least. First on
Friday there was a base running blunder for the ages.
Crazy Carl really screwed up, I am not going to describe
what happened because if I did I would probably start
swearing like a truck driver again. To put it simple terms,
that was STUPID CARL, it made no sense, tell me why he
would do that, what were the benefits. That was the bad
but then we have a man named Manny, the best hitter in
the world right now. He is a Triple Crown threat, he is
carrying the Red Sox, he is the league's MVP without a
doubt. Manny helped the Sox to a win on Saturday and on
Sunday he set up Varitek's big homer with a big homer
of his own in the eighth inning to tie the game against
the A's. And more good news was Derek Lowe, he got the
win Sunday and actually deserved it. He pitched very well,
he had decent control with his pitches and got ground
ball outs. Now to the moves, Ohka and Crawford down to
the farm and Pichardo and Cone up to the big club. Pichardo
was not a surprise and the same goes for Crawford but
Ohka for Cone surprised me. Cone only threw 49 pitches
in his rehab start and is not ready and Ohka had an ERA
under 4, wait a few weeks, allow Cone to build up strength
and see if Ohka continues to struggle then make your decision.
Wakefield moves into the rotation, he has pitched well
and adding a curveball has really helped him out, I believe
he can be successful. But Cone scares me, I'm rooting
for him because I'd love to see him kick some Yankee ass
but we just have to wait and see. Good-bye Red Sox Nation,
and please Carl lets not do that again.

It has been awhile, hello
to all of the 4 or 5 people who visit my site. I am not
going to mention the the play of the Sox, I just wanted
to talk about Chris Stynes. It was an awful scene, Stynes
suffered two fractures in his cheek and one hell of a
swollen eye. If anything good can be said, it is that
the ball glanced off his helmet and then glanced off his
cheek, it did not directly hit him. Hopefully there is
no damage to his eye, it looks bad but it do not think
it is as bad as it looks, from what I have heard his eye's
swelling has calmed down and his vision is satisfactory
and will be monitored. Lets hope for the best, before
baseball comes into it, lets just hope his vision is good
and later on he returns to the Red Sox. Luckily, this
was not a Bryce Florie incident but it was certainly an
ugly scene, good luck to Chris Stynes and his recovery.
Also, Jose Paniagua, he is an a$$hole, without a doubt,
he purposely threw at Manny's head on a 3-0 count, that's
the type of player that makes baseball look bad. He is
a scumbag, he was afraid Manny would put on in the net
not because it would blow the game, the M's would have
won anyway, he didn't want to hurt his stats. He figured,
3-0 count, I'll just make a purpose pitch at his HEAD,
what a complete a$$hole. He is a guy I will always root
against from now on, he is my leading canidate for the
A$$hole of the Year award. Sele did not mean to throw
at Stynes, Mr. Paniagua did mean to throw at Manny, look
at the replay, if Manny doesn't move, that ball hits him
square in the head. The league should suspend the scumbag
but they will not do it, if it was Pedro they most certainly
would at least review it. That is all for today, see ya
later Red Sox nation.

There are a number of
topics to talk about, lets start off with the bad news.
Derek Lowe blew another save on Sunday against K.C. and
Jimy has moved him out of the closer role and it is now
Rolando Arrojo's job. Lowe should go back to a setup and
have 5 or so outings in that role, do not put him in the
closer role until he has 4 or 5 solid performances. And
a word of advice Derek, you are a sinker ball pitcher,
stop throwing your 2nd best pitch which is that hanging
curveball, stick with the sinker and heavy fastball. Now
we go to Jimy, I will make this short, I am not a Jimy
fan but the team is in 1st place. Yes, team could have
a better record but do NOT blame it on Jimy, blame it
on Lowe. He has 4 of the 9 Red Sox losses, its as simple
as that. Jimy has made some DUMB decisions but none have
cost the Red Sox as much as Lowe's awful pitching. And
it looks like Jimy has finally realized that O'Leary is
done and Bichette should get more playing time, finally.
The final topic is Pedro, he said he had nothing, he was
hurting, had none of his pitches yet he shut down the
best team in baseball yesterday. He went 8 innings, had
12 K's and allowed only 3 hits and went on to his 3rd
win of the season. Geese, I would like to see Pedro pitch
when he has his good stuff. Also, Ichiro Susuki, he has
talent, the speed, the arm, and the hand-eye coordination.
I do not know if this guy is the real deal but it seems
like it so far. A big day in Japan today as well, Nomo
is on the mound for the Sox and Suzuki for the M's. Well
its time to prepare for tonight's game, might as well
take a little nap. Have a good day and keep the faith.
GO SOX!!!

Lowe's woes continues.
I will make this short and sweet. I am not going to panic,
yet. The Red Sox are in first without Nomar and their
all-star closer pitching well, there is no need to worry,
yet. Jimy should put Lowe in middle relief for a few outings
until he shows his sharpness on his pitchers are better.
Lowe has had some bad luck, the two homers hit by O'Neil
and Justice were outs in any other ballpark but the pitchers
he threw were up. He is a sinker ball pitcher but there
has been a lot of fly balls hit off him so far. Lowe is
struggling, mostly it is a mental struggle, he is losing
confidence, he has to grow a set. Closers are tough guys,
not whiners, they have that "I don't care , just
give me the damn ball," attitude. Lowe never has
gone through this before, he has never struggled. Let
us see how he reacts, hopefully he will bounce back very
soon. I believe he will but if he doesn't, there are other
guys waiting in the wings.

Yankees lose, theeeeeeeeeeee
Yankees lose. First off I hope everyone had a fine Easter
but how about that Red Sox, Yankee series. It was great
baseball and even better for Sox fans as the Bombers lose
three out of the four games. It is early but I think it
proves that the Sox will be there all year contending
to make the playoffs. The key for the Sox was the tremendous
pitching by Crawford, Martinez, Nomo and Castillo. Crawford
shut down the Yanks on Friday as the Sox went on to a
dramatic 3-2 victory against Mariano Rivera and the Yanks.
On Saturday, Pedro vs. Roger, both pitched well but did
not figure in the decision. The Red Sox went on to lose
the game 3-2 with some questionable moves by Sox manager,
Jimy Williams. Then on Easter Sunday, Nomo out-pitched
Pettite and the Sox pound him with fourteen hits and five
runs. The Sox hang on to a 5-4 win over the Evil Empire.
Then today, Castillo vs. Mussina, or David vs. Goliath.
Well, David beat Goliath 4-1, it was a great performance
by Frank Castillo. He shut down the Yanks over six innings
of work allowing only two hits and walking none. The Sox
are now on to face the Tampa Bay Cry Babies and then they
head to the Bronx, it should be another great weekend
of baseball. And hopefully it will result in another successful
weekend for the Red Sox.

Jimy, where have you
been, man. Jimy Williams is with out a doubt the weirdest
manager in baseball. If you saw the game there is no need
to explain my words but I will explain. After a splendid
victory against the Evil Empire on Friday, Jimy did it
again. With the Sox winning by two in the seventh, Pedro
did struggle and let up two runs to tie the game. Then
Jimy takes control, Manny singles, Lewis is going to pinch
run, right. No, with Troy O'Leary at the plate, Jimy doesn't
pitch run until the count reach 2-1. Lewis is going to
steal or O'Leary will bunt or a hit and run, no. Nothing
happen, they wasted Manny's single. We move to the top
of the ninth, Jimy leaves the lefty, Pete Schourek in
to face not one, not two, not three, no not even four
but five righties. El Guapo, who only threw seven pitches
last night was no where to be seen, no Arrojo, no Lowe.
Alfonso Soriano leads the inning off with a Bucky Dent
type homer. Welcome to Jimy ball, only Jimy knows what
he is doing, only thing Jimy doesn't know is that he is
managing himself out of a job. I know its early but how
many questionable moves has Jimy made already this season.
The answer is, alot of questionable calls. I'm not calling
for Jimy's head yet but if these strange moves continue,
Dan Duquette might make a move. The fans on the radio
are questioning him, the talkshow hosts, the writers and
we know the riff betweeen Jimy and Dan. Come on Jimy,
smarten up, make the right moves and enough with this
everyone has to play crap and this "well Garces pitched
yesterday so he can't today," that is garbage, cut
the crap Jimy.

Yankees vs. Red Sox,
the classic matchup, that will last for four days. What
a weekend for Boston and New York fans, it is going to
be exciting. My opinion on the weekend is, number 1, hopefully
no moron Red Sox fan or Yankee fan will get arrested.
Now to the games, I believe they will split the four game
set, Red Sox will win the first two and the Yanks take
the next two. Personnally, I can't wait until Saturday's
game, it is going to be special. Pedro vs. Roger, Trot
vs. Roger and Yanks vs. Red Sox. There isn't much more
you could ask for if you are a true baseball fan. Let
us enjoy this great weekend of the greatest game on earth.

Nomo goes for another
no-no again, lets be honest it isn't going to happen but
lets hop Nomo has a solid performance. No one expects
Nomo to pitch another gem but people are hoping he can
have a solid effort. I hope the Red Sox fans go crazy
later this evening when Nomo takes the hill. So good luck
to Hideo Nomo on trying to be the second man in the history
to pitch back to back no-hitters, it is going to be very
tough but it should be an exciting night at Fenway.

Nomo No-No!!! Sorry but
I had to say it. Absolutely incredible, that is about
all you can say. Hideo Nomo pitches a no-hitter in his
first official Red Sox start. I still can't believe that
it happened, that I witnessed the first no-hitter since
1965 (sorry Matt Young, yours doesn't count). This is
something the Red Sox needed, after a horrid spring training
and losing the opener, the Sox fans and the players were
down. This can bring everyone's spirits up and bring a
team in turmoil together. Now back to Nomo, unbelievable,
after a bad spring this came out of nowhere. Nomo has
good stuff, there is no question about that, but he was
really on. Everything was working, the split, the fast
ball and the offspeed pitches, he was dominant. But lets
calm down, don't expect Nomo to win 20 games and have
an era of two. Lets enjoy it and everyone can walk away
from the Tobin Bridge. And to Mike Lansing, what a grab,
there is always that one great play and that was it. Once
again, what a great performance by Hideo Nomo.

Here are my 2001 season
and postseason predictions. First division winners: In
the NL West it will be San Francisco, Bonds and Kent and
a solid pitching staff one through four will take them
to first place in a tough division. The Cardinals will
easily take the NL Central, great pitching, dominating
bats. And the Braves will take the NL East again as long
as they get some hitting. In the AL West, the Oakland
A's will take it, great young pitching and very exciting
bats (Giambi, Damon, Tejada, etc.). In the AL Central,
the Indians will regain the crown, it was a tough choice
but if the Indians get pitching they will win. Finally,
the AL East, the Yanks shall prevail, I hate to say it
but good pitching beats great hitting any day. The two
Wild Card teams will be the Mets and your Boston Red Sox.
The World Series will be between the A's and the Cards,
and Big Mac and company will win it all. AL MVP will be
Jason Giambi, in the NL it will be Barry Bonds. Pedro
will take the Cy Young and in the NL it will be Randy
Johnson. Honestly, I do not know too much about the rookies
but I will go with Jimmy Rollins from Philadelphia and
Paxton Crawford for the Red Sox. Now its time to sit back
and watch the season, I will be updating this page with
my opinions on numerous occasions throughout the season,
I hope you continue to read. See ya later!

First off, welcome to
my site, I hope you enjoy it. Anyway, lets get down to
business, our Boston Red Sox, the 2001 season. The Red
Sox have had a rocky spring but I have remained positive
even though Nomar Garciaparra is hurt, Manny is hurt and
Mount Everett has exploded already on numerous occasions.
And of course the starting pitcher is very questionable
after Pedro. Today, I would like to give my predictions
on the Red Sox. First the Red Sox record, I predict 90
wins and 72 losses and a playoff berth via Wild Card.
Team MVP is Pedro, going 22 - 3 with an era under 2.00
and the over/under on Everett tantrums is three, I'm taking
over, way over. Sadly though, the Sox will not win it
all, they will lose to the Oakland A's in the ALCS. Sorry
to leave on a sad not but that is it for the day, tomorrow
I will make my award and playoff predictions. See ya!
