Survey Report

Although only nine members gave answers, they are full of precious ideas and suggestion.

Farewell to PRESIDENT Davis
Tom Davis has made great efforts in leading the Club. We realized now all members have been relying on Tom too much. He always thought positively and took everything seriously. We wish him best luck for his new career and life.

Welcome New Member!

YUKO KOMATA, Welcome to Sapporo Pioneers. We are glad you're joining us for better speaking, listening, and evaluating!

WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING LATELY . . .

Report of 24 June Meeting

The summer solstice is a real HARBINGERS of Bear Garden in Odori Park(???). At Opening Thought, Takase mentioned discount tickets for public facilities such as museums, transportation, etc. in England. The tickets were given without showing senior citizen's ID. He appreciated British hospitality very much.

Table Topic Session was presided by Ando. It was a Mock Trial ruled by judge Nishimori. Higuchi sued next door neighbor Yamada for snow fallen from her house and Yamada's dogs. Higuchi was seeking cage and actual expenses. Yamada conducted her own defense. Lawyer of plaintiff was Shiina who spoke for Higuchi. Finally, two parties were given advice to settle down out of court. Congratulations to Naomi Komachi gave farewell speech! Her witty speeches always attracted us. She was planing to join a TM club in Yokohama. Komachi likes music and sports very much, they will enrich her new life. We are sure that her marriage will always be in a high sprits.

Prepared speeches:

Shiina made his debut as a speaker! He gave a great Ice break speech. He introduced himself using alphabets of his name. He also talked about his teaching career and volunteer interpreter activities. Second prepared speaker was Higuchi. She thanked Tom and Komachi for their efforts in having established and developed Sapporo Pioneers Club. She also called for all members to pull together to activate the meeting. She will be an excellent leader of our club.
