Ferd Mueller was 17 years old when he volunteered to go to Vietnam. He served in the Air Force’s Security Police. Mr. Mueller served one tour in Vietnam and thought the experience was hardest on his family, although not being able to play baseball back home was a close second.
When asked if there was anything that he missed about Vietnam, Mr. Mueller commented that the friendships and comradery of his fellow soldiers was something that he missed. Mueller stated that nobody went there to be a hero. Men who went wanted to serve their country.
