This website has been constructed by teachers and students of Carlyle High School. Its purpose is to relate the stories of the Vietnam veterans, specifically those from Clinton County, IL. Clinton County is located in Southern Illinois, 50 miles east of St. Louis, MO. Clinton County include such towns as Germantown, Bartelso, Breese, New Baden, and Carlyle, which is the county seat.
It is the hope of the faculty and students of Carlyle High that this site will help preserve the memory of Clinton County veterans. We also wish to preserve the personal histories of individual soldiers from our county. Partial accounts are available in video footage on this site.
This site also offers a brief synopsis of the events that occurred during America’s involvement in the war. This will hopefully give viewers of this site a broader picture of what these soldiers were involved in. In addition there are links to other sites of interest for those seeking to further their knowledge of the Vietnam War.
