COURSE PRE-REQUISITES: 

It is recommended that the course be limited to sophomores, juniors and seniors.  Since this is an introductory course, there are no prerequisite courses that need to be fulfilled before taking this course.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This introductory course for students interested in exploring issues related to human behavior.  The is broken into two main parts-- Psychology and Sociology.  First students will explore Psychology with an emphasis on the following topics:  the history of Psychology as a discipline, how the human brain and body work, how humans perceive, how and why people learn, the ability to remember, the miracle of human development,  and much more.  During the second phase of the course, Sociology will be the focus.  The focus there will be:  perspectives in sociology, inequality among and between people and groups, the institutions of family, education, religion and politics, social deviance and formal and informal social networks.
