#3 Wayzata "fumbles" in State Tourney
Last Friday the Wayzata dream season came to a close in the state semifinals verses Cretin-Derham Hall. The Trojans just couldn't stop the offense from Cretin and were unable to get much of a running game going thus the Trojans season came to an end last night in the Metrodome.
Quick and Dirty on the Game
The Trojans started out just to slow and Cretin took advantage of this by scoring two long touchdown passes from Joe Mauer. Wayzata then responded late in the second quarter with a Marion Barber 37 yard run to make the score at half time 21-7. In the second half the Trojans scored again on a Marion Barber 11 yard scamper into the endzone thus the score now 21-14. Mauer though threw another deep strike to take a 14 point lead again. Wayzata then took a very long drive down the field which resulted in an Otis Smallwood 14 yard run which made the score 21-28 still in favor of Cretin. Another field goal at the end seals the victory for the Raiders. |
