   Java and javascript are common languages used out there on the web for various things. Java is used to make applets, small applications embedded into a web page. I recommend you stay away from java since it takes a long time to load on your page. Javascript on the other hand can give you neat effects and cool things to put on your page. One problem with javascript and java is that they require a higher level browser, 3.0 and above. That's not much of a problem anymore since you can download the latest version of a browser free.    Another great language that you can add to your site is DHTML. DHTML is a combination of HTML, javascript, CSS and layering all put into one. The end result is spectacular. DHTML only works on level 4 and up browsers.
