FTP or File Transfer Protocol is a way of uploading finished pages you've made on your hard drive. Usually the FTP address is ftp.nameofserver.com but it can be different. Another way of uploading is through browser uploading or HTTP, Hyper Text Transfer Protocol, this is usually available when your logged in a member area of a site.
There can either be online editors, which you edit and work on pages online with out the need of an FTP to upload finished pages, or online easy editors which make files which won't need to be uploaded.
You will need an FTP if the site doesn't have a browser upload or online editor though. You can upload all types of file from pictures to zipped files to movies, then link to them on your page for downloading. |
