Combining the “old” and “new”, the West Liberty State College Women’s Basketball team posted a school record 25 victories, winning both the WVIAC regular season and tournament championships. Led by the “old”, seniors Adrianne Harlow, Katie Bohus, and Rachael Dedo, and junior Shay Glauser and the “new”, 6’11” center Jaana Kotova and a supporting cast of nine freshman, the Lady 'Toppers enjoyed one of the greatest seasons in school history.

After starting the season 2-2, West Liberty went on an incredible roll, winning 23 of its last 26 games. The 'Toppers dominated play, going 17-1 in the conference before rolling through WVIAC tournament play. In a rematch of last year’s championship game, the 'Toppers claimed an impressive 72-46 win over Glenville State. Unfortunately, the season came to a halt in the NCAA East Regional as West Liberty dropped a heartbreaking 90-84 overtime game to Pitt-Johnstown.

Individual awards were numerous as Kotova claimed conference MVP honors and Dedo was selected as the Tournament MVP. Besides Kotova, NCAA assist leader Adrianne Harlow also received a berth on the WVIAC First Team. Dedo was a second team selection and all three were also All-Tournament selections. Harlow won her third consecutive Heart and Hustle Award while Bohus was honored as the Red Hartman Award winner. Besides Harlow’s national assist statistical title, Kotova led the nation in blocked shots and the team led the entire NCAA in three-point field goals made per game (8.33).  In addition, 'Topper Head Coach Lynn Ullom, was honored as the "West Virginia College Coach of the Year" (all sports), becoming the first coach of a women's sports team to earn the prestigious award.

Freshmen Ashlea Bland, Dana Levendoski, and Kelly West all played big roles in the 'Toppers' success posting excellent individual numbers in their first season. Fellow freshmen Allison Bell, Lauren Hills, Tara Johnson, Sarah Kuhn, and Stacey Moore gained valuable minutes and will be counted upon in the future.

As usual, the Lady 'Toppers must sadly say goodbye to three talented seniors, but the returning players will be
looked upon to continue the level of success that the program has enjoyed over the last decade.  The program must also replace veteran Assistant Coach Missy Tiber and Assistant Coach Aaron Huffman.  Tiber will assume the head coaching duties at Belmont Abbey while Huffman will move to the West Liberty men's basketball staff.
