About Corbett National Park
Corbett National Park is situated in
the lap of beautiful Kumaon hills in Nainital district. Corbett
National Park is the only place of the region where Project Tiger was
launched in 1973. Corbett National Park is the home for about 582
species of birds, 26 species of reptiles, 7 species of amphibians and
50 species of mammals. The name of the park is on the name of famous
hunter and naturalist, Jim Corbett. The park has a high density of
tiger population.
Jim Corbett National Park is India's one of the famous Project Tiger
reserves. Corbett National Park is famous for its wild population of
Tigers, Leopards and Elephants. These animals are very rare to watch
in any part of the world. The lower areas of this park are almost
completely populated and covered by Sal trees. One can find 110
species of trees. Jim Corbett Park is also famous for its Safaris like
Jeeps Safari, Elephant Safari and Night Safari. Jeep Safari is the
most convenient way to travel and explore Corbett national park.
Jim Corbett National Park is also known for its varied topography and
vegetation. This makes Corbett National Park, a heaven for habitats.
There is a beautiful river flowing inside the park, Ramganga River.
Around this river one can see several animals and reptiles lying on
the bank of river. This river is the main source for water for all of
the animals living here. Angling is not permitted inside the National
Park.

National Park
Corbett National Park is basically famous for its wild and large
species of Tigers which is very rare to find in all over the world.
The rich bio-geographic diversity of the park makes this a natural
haven for the flora and fauna. There are also several beautiful
waterfalls which make this place really beautiful. Sparkling Ramganga
River provides safe harbor to mahaseer fish, crocodile and otter.
Forest covers hills and valleys and makes comfortable for survival of
large herds of elephants. Sharp spurs in the terrain make it an
idyllic habitat for shy species like the tiger.
Jim Corbett National Park India is a haven for Tigers as well as its
prey. Leopards are mostly found in the hilly areas of the Corbett
National Park. Some of the dangerous wildlife species of the park are
Leopard Cat, Jungle Cat and Fishing Cat. There are some more rare
animals found in the park like Sloth Bear, Himalayan Black Bear, The
Dole or Wild Dog and Jackal. This park is also the home for some of
the smaller animals like Himalayan Palm Civet, Indian Gray Mongoose,
Common Otter, Blacknaped Hare and Porcupine. Elephants are among one
of the main attractions of Jim Corbett Park. A number of fish-eating
Garcia Crocodile and the Mugger Crocodile can be seen at the shores of
Ramganga River.
Best Time to Visit Jim Corbett National Park
The best visiting season of Corbett is from February to May. Corbett
remains closed between June 15 to November 15.
How to Get there
Air: The nearest airport to Corbett National Park is
Phoolbagh. This is only at a distance of 80 km. Delhi is the nearest
International Airport only at the distance of 300 km.
Rail: The nearest railway station is at Ramnagar. The journey
from Delhi takes around 6-7 hrs. From here one can get lots of options
to reach Jim Corbett National Park.
Road: Jim Corbett National Park is well connected through
buses and local transport. The nearest bus service station from this
park is Ramnagar. Ramnagar is served by frequent buses to and from
Nainital and Ranikhet. |
