The Autobiography of Dr. Wilson (Abridged Edition)
    

    Prior to coming to PHUHS, I held positions in the US Coast Guard and at colleges and universities. I was the Director (Associate Dean's level) of the School of Aviation and Visitors at Miami Dade Community College. I was an Associate Professor and the Chair of Engineering and Aviation Science at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. I was an Assistant Professor Airways Science at Dowling College. Yes, I like to fly.  I also like boating. For a little more than twenty years, I servered in the US Coast Guard. My last assignment was as the Technical adviser to the Associate Director of Programs, Office of Marine Safety, Security and Environmental Protection, for Human Factors, Human Resource Management, Technology and Innovation, and Operations Research. Prior assignments follow. I was the Officer-in-Charge of Dispersal Control for the 1993 Presidential Inaugural Parade. I was responsible for research and drafting of the revised international assessment of oil pollution in the oceans. Exxon Valdez Task Force Coordinator responsible for the administrative handling of the response for the Coast Guard to Congress and the public. I was the change agent for reorganization of the division and the initiation of the National Pollution Fund Center. I was the principal investigator of automated vessels for the purpose of reduced manning. I was the On-scene Acting Senior Safety Inspector of Materials for Greater Northwestern Alaska for the Cleanup of the Exxon Valdez oil spill 6/89. I was the Officer-in-Charge of Maine Safety Detachment Bremen, Germany. Safety inspector-in-residence for the construction of American Presidential Lines' C-10s, the world's largest container ships. I was responsible for the technical review of materials, lifeboat constructing and testing, welding procedures ASME approved, destructive and nondestructive testing of welds and materials, firefighting systems, auxiliary boiler ASME approved, automation testing, and equivalence determination. From Vietnam to Desert Storm, I served in a variety of management assignments in the Navy and Coast Guard. In November 1993, I retired from the US Coast Guard.  I earned my doctor of science degree at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. I earned my master of science (Mechanical Engineering) degree at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. I earned my bachelor of science (Nuclear) degree at SUNY Maritime College.  My hobbies are boating, flying, and jogging. I am an FAA Certified Flight Instructor.
