| | Course Title: Physics I (Honors) or Pre-IB Physics
Credit: 1.0 This course will meet the graduation requirement for
science.
A. Major concepts/content. The purpose of this course is to provide a sophisticated introductory course in physics and to prepare students for IB Physics II or as their terminal Physics course.
The content should include, but not be limited to, the following:
- unifying concepts and processes of sccience
- energy
- mechanics
- wave characteristics
- conservation of energy and momentum
- thermodynamics and heat transfer
- electricity and magnetism
- interaction among science, technologyy, and society
B. Special note. Laboratory work involves application of the scientific method, quantitative relationships, proper use of laboratory apparatus, and safety precautions.
