The next meeting of the Association, will be the ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING on Thursday 24th June in the Lettsom TA Hall, Vestry Road. We will be electing a new committee to serve for the next year. We need at least 15 people to forum a quorum so please come to the meeting even if you do not have time to serve on the committee. We will be serving light refreshments and you can buy drinks from the bar at club prices. As it is an AGM we pay a carers allowance of up to £10 if you have to pay someone to look after someone at home so that you can attend the meeting. Don't ask what this Association can do for you, ask rather what you can do for the Association. If you would like someone to walk with you, please call Angela Occomore on 0207 701 9319.
On Saturday 8th May another member of the Wilson's Residents Association was recognised by Southwark Council with a Civic Award. At St George's Cathedral Calista Lucy was awarded a 'Letter of Commendation' for her work for the Association over the last 17 years. Previously Rosalie Roberts and Nicola Moxham have also been honoured in the same way for their work for the Association and the wider community in Camberwell and Southwark. Honoured on Saturday were many others who have worked for those in Southwark, especially in the volunatary sector. Jack Jones, well known in the trade union movement was made a freeman of the borough as was Lord Harris of Peckham who has done so much for education in the borough and beyond.
The WRA Media Project, undertaken by first and second year Media National Diploma students at Southwark College, was launched on Friday 14th May. You can view the films the students have made by visiting Southwark.TV and selecting Southwark College on the drop down menu on the top right hand corner of the Home Page, and then pressing the 'GO' button. The students made four news stories, a docu-drama called 'Four Corners' and a drama about the ghosts in the pub on Peckham Rye called 'Spirit on the Rye'.
