Ch. Foxglove Windsong's Harley DWindsong Mastiff's foundation is built on a beautiful bitch named Foxglove Windsong's Harley D. We call her "Harley". Though as a puppy she looked to have the potential to be quite a troublemaker, she matured into the sweetest, most loving dog that we have. She still gets a mischievous twinkle in her eye, but she usually takes pity on us and behaves herself. (Unless cookies are involved - then all bets are off!) Harley was co-bred by Laura Hagey of Foxglove Mastiffs,
and Carolyn and Bruce Budmayr of Tyrolian Mastiffs. Both kennels
represent a long line of solid breeding and producing beautiful animals.
Foxglove Mastiffs began their rich tradition in quality dogs with Gulph
Mills Mastiffs. Ch Gulph Mills Mulcher is the #2 sire for producing
We chose Harley as our foundation bitch for a variety of reasons. First and foremost was her temperament. Harley is as gentle a giant as she can be, yet protects her family in her own quiet way. She posses grandeur and stature but still frolics like the puppy she will always be. And though we consider temperament very important, she only gets better from there. She moves with power and grace. Her body has a wonderful balance of size and femininity. She is an all around wonderful mastiff, and aside from being our foundation bitch, she is a treasured member of the family.

Harley has only had one litter of puppies - and it was a doozy! This amazing litter of puppies would ultimately form a huge part of Windsong's foundation. The proud papa of these beautiful puppies was none other than Ch Middle Earth Aragorn...better know as "Strider". Strider was bred and is owned and loved by our friends Nancy and Jerry Harvey of Middle Earth Mastiffs. Strider is the product of 6 generations of carefully selected breeding within Middle Earth Mastiffs. Middle Earth Mastiffs began their line of dogs with a daughter from Ch Gulph Mills Mulcher as well. Strider has one of the most impressive win records of any dog in the breed. He finished his championship at 13 months old, having won the Grand Futurity and Best in Senior Sweepstakes at the 1996 MCOA National. He was the #3 mastiff in the country in 1997 and 1998. In 1999, Strider showed only twelve times, and still ranked #5 in the country. He is the only mastiff to be ranked in the top five for three consecutive years. He is a wonderful teddy bear of a dog, and we are proud to have him as such a substantial part of our line.
