09/01/05 Upton 2 Wirral Nomads 1
Team: Budworth, Roberts, D. Maher, Saunders, Seddon, Pollard (Lucas), Simmons, A. Maher, Ringrose, Lammin (O’Mahoney), Amis. Substitute not used: Fitzgerald
A late goal cost Nomads a share of the points at a windy Arrowe Park. After failing to take advantage of the slope in the first half - the best effort being a Lammin shot against the bar – Nomads fell behind early in the second period when slack marking allowed an Upton player to convert from a corner. But within two minutes the score was levelled when Lammin raced on to a through ball and slotted past the keeper for his ninth goal of the season. Soon after the striker had an opportunity to put Nomads ahead from a similar position but his shot ran wide of goal. With time running out a draw seemed likely but a 25 yard shot from the left side of the area found its way into the Nomads net to give Upton the win. However, a combination of sausages, chips and bread after the match softened the blow.
