Kildrummy Castle

Kildrummy Castle is a 13th century fortress that was the chief power-base of the Earls of Mar. Over the centuries, the castle saw many battles. There is a possibility that the castle was actually finished by King Edward I of England (The Hammer of the Scots). In 1306 Edward's son, the Prince of Wales, laid siege to the castle. Today, the castle is in a idyllic setting beside the Don River.
