I couldn't get out in my yard fast enough this spring... in fact I may have rushed things just a bit.  Some early planting had me adding some potted plants on each side of my sidewalk,  a small bed of petunias,  some bachelor button seeds and some zinnias seeds.  This bed is still young and competing with weather not ideal for growing,  hopefully the weeks that follow will get these petunias going.

I also have fallen in love with Morning Glory and Moon Flower, or at least the thought of having Morning Glory and Moon Flower.  I've planted 80-100 Morning Glory seeds of both the mixed variety and some "Scarlet O'Hara" and about 50 Moon Flower seeds.   The Morning Glory and Moon Flowers have been planted along the front of my porch, in front of the north side of the house and around my yard lamp.  Now I wait......

I lost a few of my Mums along the sidewalk over the winter,  so those were quickly replaced as well as a "face lift" around my fountain.  Many of the plants and flowers around my fountain would need to be replaced (this is where the fake ferns come in handy)  Here is my fountain right after I cleaned it all up and got it running again after our spring thaw.

My fountain after A LOT of work.  I'm waiting for my new plants to take hold and begin filling the area in.  Along the porch side of the fountain I have planted some Iris, Chives, Columbine, and a little plant that I've forgotten the name of... Oooops! In front of the fountain and along the side I have a few hostas,  some vine ground cover and Shasta Daisies.  Eventually the bricks will be replaced with some landscaping border.... until then, the bricks will have to do.

Here are two items I felt some Petunias would look good in.  The Wheel Barrel sits just to the right of my fountain and is surrounded by Teddy Bear Sunflowers,  the fence is on the edge of the porch and sits directly behind my humming bird feeder.

Around my humming bird feeder I have more Morning Glory seeds planted as well as these dwarf Sunflowers.

For my Birthday my husband gave me this cute arch for the end of our sidewalk,  of course more Morning Glory was planted as well as Moon Flower seeds have been planted.  I can't wait for them to take off and cover my arch.

               Update: 5/28/02                             Update: 7/25/02

I put some new starts out.  Around the Humming Bird Feeder I planted some Cardinal Climbers.  Around the bird feeder, on each side of the front steps and under my arch I've planted some Irresistible Morning Glory.  I'll take some photos in a few days once I see they are going to take root.

My bricks around the fountain are now gone and in their place some landscape edging.  I was have a big problem with mud falling into the "pond".

I still don't have any Moon Flower coming up yet,  but in addition to those I sowed as seeds directly in the ground I have about a dozen in starter pots.  So if one doesn't work I'm sure the other will.....  May 28, 2002

MOON FLOWER UPDATE:  June 2, 2002

There is finally Moon Flower popping up!!!

Here is a full shot of my north side of the porch.  Hopefully very soon this will be along a backdrop of Morning Glory and Moon Flower that I hope will grow along the sides of the house and porch.
