He is very old, but will never die, thanks to Youth Elixer he takes to stay at the estimate age of 100. Over his life he married 5 times. 4 of his wives died and went to hell... So aftar a while he went to hell looking for them. And now is married to them all. Its a long story, which can be found in the book: "Question Quest" He has a desinated wife in Xanth every month, while the other 4 stay in hell. Very strange, but after reading the book, it almost makes a bit of sense, but thats Xanth for you!

He lives in a castle yes, and people all over Xanth comes to him to anser thier questions. Even the king goes there. But hes ot going to anser unless they are going to pay a price. So, for 1 question, you must pay 1 years service. Or in some cases, you must help somone on thier quest, or do a difficult eron for the magicain.

The magicain doesnt want people pestering him still, so he sets up a "system" in which you must pass 3 Challenges to get in the castle. The challenges vary for everyone. The Chllenges deal with the most fearful things, and test bravery and things like that. Somtimes the challenges teach things that will be needed later. Since he is the magican of information he has tools for telling the future to some extent.

Though a grumpy, orny little knome, the magican has a very intresting life. And plays an intresting role in Xanths history.
