The Gourd is one of the neatest, weirdest, and punnyest places in all of Xanth. It is the land beneth Xanth, where every dream and Nightmare stay. Where the mares of the night come from, dilivering bad dreams.

The gourd is hard to explain. It is mentioned or visited in many Xanth books, the biggest one in particular is probably "Ogre, Ogre" and "Night Mare"
