Job came to Canada in the fall of 1798, following the lead of his brother Elmer. He ascended the river Saint Francis on the ice in French trains, and settled in the Township of Shipton, Quebec. The first school in the new Township or Settlement was taught in his house by Miss Kimball and mostly confined to his family. In 1804 he removed, with his family, to Three Rivers, whence in 1814 he moved to Montreal.
