Sex and the City
As always I'm a little late getting on the pop-culture band wagon
for this one. On a suggestion of a girl friend from Florida, I
went out and rented the first season. Fifteen minutes into the
first episode I fell in love with this series. Brilliantly written
and much more about human relationships than sex. This is the
most true to life representation of being a single 30-something
woman ever pumped through the media. I think this should be required
viewing for all single men who WANT a relationship. It's just
like my life - just without all the sex. I don't know of anyone
who has that much sex, but even so the sex scenes are so short
and often overdubbed with the funniest lines that you spend your
time laughing through them. And can I just say some of the hottest
men are showcased in the episodes. What really got me hooked was
how Carrie's life seemed to parallel my own. Now, I just wonder
what will happen with Big since I didn't have HBO and have to
wait until Season 6, Part 2 is released on DVD. And yes, I do
have a "Big". I cannot sing enough praises for this show, it makes
me feel good to be single and female. So on the occasional dateless
Friday and Saturday nights, I just laugh my ass off watching Sex
and the City. Beats the heck out of a lame date any day! Oh yeah,
guys...YES, we've heard all the lame excuses and all the lame
lines. Season 6, Part 1 gave away one some of your secrets - when
you're confused by a guy's behavior it's just guy speak for -
"He's just not that into you" - Berger = Episode #78 "Pick a Little,
Talk a Little." So I'm wondering how the guys who are THAT into
you act? Where the heck are they??? Yoo hoooo!!! Is it time to
use the gratuitous bikini shot
again?
Under the Tuscan Sun
I want to go to Italy - hot men, hot gorgeous dark haired, dark
eyed men everywhere!!!!! OHHH! SINGLE WOMAN'S DREAM! And hey....they
love older women. Also great movie about personal freedom, finding
yourself, gorgeous countryside...
Books
I'm Reading
Emotional Alchemy - Tara Bennett-Goleman
Seems to tie in nicely with teachings I've been focused on as
of late from Ramtha - self-deception and finding that which is
hidden. I hope to free myself of all these self-made illusions
that stand in the way of my own freedom.
The Outlander - Just started (a co-worker wanted me to read
and I can't remember the author's name)
Angels and Demons - Dan Brown: Just Started
Deception Point - Dan Brown: FINISHED
The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown: FINSIHED
Wow...this book has driven me to read fiction again with the same
passion as I read non-fiction. I love learning and this book throws
in quite a bit of history, art-history, mathematics. The accuracy
of the historical data is quite controversial, however. Every
person I know who has read it has been unable to put it down.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
Illusions - Richard Bach: Reread and I swear even after the
100th time I still learn something new.
Keepers of the Ancient Knowledge - Joan Parisi Wilcox
A Westerner's viewpoint of the Quero Indians nestled high in the
Andes of Peru. It focuses on explaining Andean Cosmology/Incan
Shamanism.
Though the title sounds absolutely juvenile and it would probably
be more apt to refer to them as my children, I didn't want to frighten
those who know me and make them think I was stashing unknown children
in the proverbial closet. My two "children" are quite furry and walk
on all fours. One a cat and the other a dog. As all family's, we have
a bit of dysfunction as I had to give my dog back to my mother. My
tiny and old dog had developed quite the bladder problem - i.e. her
inability to hold it. Given that my mother is home most of the day,
she can take her out whenever she feels the urgency as opposed to
me being gone to work 8 or more hours a day. It seemed to be in her
best interest though the cat and I miss her terribly.
My cat's name is Boo. His "real" name is actually Feris - like Feris
Bueller - cute, yet devious. However, when I adopted him back in 1998
my ex was determined to call him something else. He took to calling
him "his little boy" which in kitty-baby talk became "his `ittle boo."
Soon, as I continually heard this and grew quite attached to the cute
and sweet nature of our new family member, Boo really seemed to fit.
Strangely, Boo responds quite well to that name and knows he's in
trouble when he hears "FERIS!"
My ex had to do quite a bit of convincing back then for me to even
get a cat. I had always been a dog person and had my dog, Leo, for
about 7 years at that time. I started working in an animal clinic
upon moving to Florida and found my preference for any one particular
animal species disappearing. I loved them all. I was instructed to
find a long haired gray kitten. We received several at the clinic
and I watched them all during my day to day kennel tech activities.
There was one that fit the description perfectly, however each day
I would walk by it's cage it would be dangling from the bars with
a wild eyed look - shaking the cage door like a maniac.
Then one day we took in three cute kittens. One brother and two sisters.
Each day I found them to be incredibly docile. They were very calm
and good natured. Out of the lot, the little boy would always wander
to the front of the cage and rub against my hand as if to thank me
for taking the time to clean his litter box, replace his water and
replenish their food. He was a sweetie. I decided after three weeks,
he was the one we would take home. The day of the adoption was the
same day he was neutered. Poor little guy. While I filled out the
paperwork and made the adoption arrangements I walked around with
Boo draped over my left shoulder. He always remember that as a time
of comfort and when he wants to be held he always reaches for my shoulder.
Boo got along famously with Leo. They often worked together to get
their way. They were quite the pair and I hated to separate them.
Around feeding time, Boo would meow incessantly until I placed food
in Leo's bowl. I'd feed him first, but he would always run to Leo's
bowl to make sure she had food before he returned to his to begin
eating.
Boo has only hissed once in his whole kitty life, at a dog at the
clinic in the early days. He has never knowingly scratched or bit
anyone even when provoked. Boo is all about the love. Unfortunately,
in 2002 our vet discovered Boo had cardiomyopathy. At most, he has
about 5 years more to live. Currently, he is asymptomatic but I still
have to give him heart medication everyday.

Fun with Invisalign
Well, it's starting to show. The long awaited process of getting the Invisalign braces finally started January 6, 2005. I've been wearing the aligners for about 4 months now and I'm starting to see a major difference in my smile. I had to start off back at the end of `03 with getting molds for a retainer type device to open my bite. I wore that for over 7 months. Then, I had to get copious amounts of molds and two teeth had to be pulled. I will still have to have wire & brackets for about 1-3 months on the upper teeth to pull down an impacted adult tooth while I continue to wear the invisalign on the bottom. I am excited though! Dr. Holland and his staff ROCKS!!! Here's as close as I could come to a before and after shots.
