Blow by Blow of the Maroon 5/John Mayer concert

This is about, you guessed it....music... I used to sing, but I wouldn't dare subject anyone to the torture now. Though once at a club, a few drinks and the cojoling of a super hot guy I broke out of my "retirement" and performed a karaoke rendition of Fiona Apple's "Criminal." Several people claim they were impressed, but most of them had a few drinks too. I can just hear Simon Cowell..."No, my dear. You singing that was Criminal." {sigh}--> Allen said I could sing when he overheard me this weekend...now I'm having a weird teenage desire to be in a rock band...

Top 10 Songs that I'm Diggin' and Playin' in My iPod this week...er the past few months (May 2005):
  1. Every Day is Exactly the Same - NIN
Hel-looo! Nine Inch Nails is back an dit sounds like the good `ol days of Pretty Hate Machine. Most of all I love he lyrics. Perhaps because too often this is the way I feel about life. We have the power to change it, but some days it seems futile. Just reminds me of the complacency we lull ourselves into, making ourselves believe we are powerless victims. No love, no pain. Numb.
  2. Time After Time - Sparklemotion
I like this remake from the Napoleon Dynamite soundtrack. Of course, I loved the original most of all. I can't believe I remember when the original came out. I will say nothing about being old here...draw your own conclusions.
  3. The Widow - The Mars Volta
Thomas actually called my attention to this song. Lots of passionate angst. No wonder I can relate. It sounds super hot, though I'm not entirely sure of the lyrics. It'sjust the feel of the song that I like so much. Plus, it reminds me of my honey - Thomas. ;)
  4. Metal Heart - Garbage
Garbage has returned with a vengence. Much like NIN's new album, Garbage returns to their debut album's roots.
  5. Right Between the Eyes - Garbage
"Stick it to them like a Phoenix Rise, There's nothing better than a big surprise." Love the lyrics on this one. There's some peeps I know that will have a big surprise soon...guess it's nice having a secret sometimes because the when truth comes out it comes out on my terms.
  6. Let Go - Frou Frou
Oh, this song is awesome. "Let go, jump in, oh well what you waiting for, it's alright cause there's beauty in the breakdown" Don't be afraid to fall, because when you do your world finally opens up and all you prayed for/created comes to you.
  7. Brighter than Sunshine - Aqualung
Just discovered this tune and this artist. It's a one man band (from what I've read) - Matt Hales. Exquisitely beautiful in a similar vein to Radhiohead's mellow stuff and Coldplay. Plus, he was born in January 1972 like your's truly. :)
  8. Strange and Beautiful - Aqualung
Also a great tune. I think this was used in a Volkswagen commercial too. Very mellow, very melodic, very captivating. Makes me wanna jump in a new Beetle with my iPod to go pick up my Mac. Just kidding....
  9. Volcano - Damien Rice
I heard this on VH-1 months ago, but I just d/l it the other day. Somber, but soothing. Some things you can't change about life and it's often better to just accept it and then let it go. I do have to admit the artist's name the song's title would make some religious folks squirm. Hmmm...
  10. Sleeps with Butterflies - Tori Amos
New one from Tori. Seems she and I have had similar experiences with men that flow in and out of our lives. Okay, that just reads poorly - my apologies as no pun was intended there! lol
