My two minutes of Fame...
Here's my bio as it read back in 2002 from my last teaching gig

Angela began dancing at the age of three with a total of 26 years training, 12 years as an instructor, and 3 years as a professional. Her training periodically included brief summers intensives, dance conventions, and master classes with internationally known choreographers and instructors such as, Gus Giordano, Joe Tremaine, Barry Lather, Frank Hatchett, David Howard, and Mira Popovich.

Age 6, 1st competitive dance "Bad Girls"

At the age of six, Angela began attending regional and national dance competitions and conventions, such as Dance Masters of America and Tremaine Dance Conventions. She received numerous awards in jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, and modern. Her competitive achievements include being a finalist in both the 1987 and 1989 Panoply Choreography Competition for tap and modern, and as a 1987 National Finalist at Tremaine Dance Conventions in Las Vegas for tap.

I'm the one second from the left in front
I used to think of that pose (attitude) as one of my trademarks. During DMA competition, Robert Barker (former Atlanta Ballet director) commented that "the girl leading out is very graceful" - that was me. He gave us a perfect score of "100."

From 1986-1990, Angela was also one of the first members of the Lee High Dance Magnet program. Among her numerous local performances, Angela was a guest performer in 1989 during Community Ballet's annual spring garden party and performed with Community Ballet during the grand opening of the VBC's North Hall Gala.

That's me in Laser Uniform at home
Wow! I was skinny! Check out those yellow, lycra biker shorts...LOL

In 1991, Angela began her professional dance career as one of the Laser Girls (Huntsville Lasers Basketball). During auditions for the Laser Girls, Angela had the opportunity to work with Lisa Estrada, director/choreographer for the Los Angeles Laker Girls.

In 1992, Angela was one of the founding members of the Dare to Dream Dancers, a professional dance company under the direction of former Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader, Belinda Hudson.

Me posed in attitude - again
Ballet dance - 1993
Guess I can't be a member of the Pink Ladies while in a tutu, darn...

In 1996-1997, Angela was a member of Dance Theater Huntsville, headed by her high school friend Desi Hyter.

Waving to my adoring fans...
okay, it was really just my mom

Angela was also director/choreographer for the Huntsville Firedancers in 1997. During the opening night performance for the Huntsville Fire, Angela suffered a devastating knee injury marking the end of her professional dance career.

Ouch!
Despite this, I continued to choreograph
Eventually, hopping around on crutches asking others to demonstrate.

Not included in this bio are the other silly and crazy things I did just "to dance."

Tiffany watch out! I'm at the mall!
What the heck is that thing behind me?

Though dancing in the mall fashion shows afforded me the opportunity to dance with an incredible choreographer/dancer (originally from Chicago now in New York) by the name of Manny Corti. He was the first person (outside of the small dance circle of Huntsville) who took notice of my dancing ability. It was the first time I realized I actually may have something - talent. I will always remember Manny for this and will be forever indebted to him. Much love to ya. I wish I had followed your lead and did as you said I should...."You need to move to a bigger city, Neeley."

My last mall show and the 1st Manny didn't choreograph
I was probably asking myself,
"Why am I dancing at the mall - AGAIN???"
nothing more humbling or cheesy my friends...

Also, during my last stint as a dance teacher the ladies I taught for convinced me to compete with them again in the adult dance category. We danced to Lady Marmalade. It was alot of fun and I continually prayed that my knee wouldn't give out. I pushed it to the max. INcredibly it never did though it came close at the DEA competition in Huntsville. It wasn't until last year, when I finally had medical insurance and my knee gave out again, that I officially found out I had a torn ACL and bucket tear of the medial meniscus. I'm holding off on surgery for now.

Not the Lady Marmalade outfit
but same time period

Ah, yes...not the same skinny girl I once was
And much too old for this sh*t
