Welcome to the homepage of the Charleston, WV Chapter of the West Virginia University Institute of Technology Alumni Association. It is our hope that this information will allow you to stay in touch with WVU Tech and participate in many of the alumni events and Chapter's fund raising activities.

The Charleston Chapter was organized in January 2001 to help build a stronger relationship between former students and the college. It was initially established by employees of Verizon Communications in Charleston, WV. Since that time, the Chapter has extended its membership to all of Tech's alumni in the Charleston, WV area. We encourage graduates to e-mail us at charlestonchapter@wvutechalumni.org to obtain membership information. We believe that graduation from WVU Tech does not end the relationship, but is merely the beginning.

We are always looking for new ideas for alumni events. We encourage alumni and friends of WVU Tech to take a more active role and contact us with your comments. Your participation in our fund raising and social events is a great way to have fun and help deserving Tech students with scholarships through our annual fund raising events.

Our first fund raising event held in 2002 was a great success. The Charleston Chapter in cooperation with the Tech Foundation, Inc. raised over $10,000 for student scholarships by raffling off a new Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle. The drawing was held on May 9, 2002 and Mr. John Rose from South Charleston, WV was the winner. Please see the "photo" section for the presentation of the check to Tech Foundation, Inc.

Our Second Fund Raising Event is now History. During the drawing on the evening of Saturday February 21, 2004, the following three ticket stubs were pulled. The names of the winners are:

ATV -Rodney Fox, Montgomery, WV (Ticket was sold by Linda Aguilar, Tech Alumni Association Board Member. Last year the winning ticket was sold by K. Shane Hudson, also a Tech Alumni Association Board Member)

$1,000- Dennis E Bird- Warm Springs, VA (Coach LeAnn Bird's Dad)

$500- Joshua Wilson, Smithers, WV (Gordon Short's stepson. Gordon was the former Dean of the College of Business, Humanities and Science at Tech)

We want to congratulate the winners and thank all that participated. Your donations to the raffle will make a difference to Tech's students through scholarship assistance
