This page is under serious construction...check back often!

For now there isn't much organization, but I'm trying to keep them in reverse order of time (newest pictures at the top of the page.)  Eventually I plan to separate the pics into different pages for quicker downloading. Check back often, since I have many, many pictures, and I will be constantly adding them.

Mason/Brookline Trail

My Other Toys
brushtruck1.jpg (74419 bytes)

This is the brusk truck for the Goshen Fire Dept. in Goshen, NH.

brushtruck2.jpg (75624 bytes)

I wonder if I can fit that grill guard on my XJ?

brushtruck4.jpg (73486 bytes)

It even has a winch! Its a large PTO winch.

brushtruck3.jpg (73967 bytes)

How would you like to see that coming at you in your rear view mirror?

brushtruck5.jpg (68539 bytes)

Heavy closed knuckle front axle.

stockxj.jpg (79271 bytes)

My XJ as I bought it. Read a little more about it on the My Vehicles page.

xjfirsttrip1.jpg (53683 bytes)

A view from my first trail trip with my newly purchased XJ. This is also the same day I finished installing the 3" lift.

xjfirsttrip2.jpg (100381 bytes)

My XJ up on a ledge.

xjfirsttrip3.jpg (86020 bytes)

Another shot of the ledge.

chtwisted.jpg (79530 bytes)

Just playing here, to see how the lift flexes.

chtwisted2.jpg (70373 bytes)

Pictures never do justice...it looked cooler in person. Isn't that always the way?

xjfirsttrip4.jpg (47194 bytes)

My first mud crossing...

xjfirsttrip5.jpg (53811 bytes)

...and the XJ did well. It was slimy under the water, but it made it.

firststuck1.jpg (60977 bytes)

I was talked into playing on a trail after class one day...

firststuck2.jpg (71532 bytes)

...and I got stuck for the first time! The 31" Uniroyals suck in the mud-

firststuck3.jpg (66271 bytes)

-and it didn't help that there were ruts and I high centered.

firststuck4.jpg (76158 bytes)

Luckily a Toyota pickup came along while we were working on getting it out...he pulled us out without a problem just after this picture was taken.

flex1.jpg (59279 bytes)

About a year after the last pictures were taken I did my first real four wheeling. I did a few little modifications to increase flex...and even the little 215/75/15 tires rubbed the inner fenderwell!

flex3.jpg (51766 bytes)

I plan to do a little more modifying to increase droop.

xjtowingvan1.jpg (55344 bytes)

And only a couple days after playing on the trail I had to tow this van. The XJ handled it without a problem!

xjtowingvan2.jpg (60261 bytes)

It was a pretty large load for an XJ, but the rear disk brakes really helped stopping, and with the Dodge springs, the rear of the XJ didn't even sag.

sammy1.jpg (62977 bytes)

My newly purchased (at the time) '86 Samurai. I went to school with a bunch of flatlanders who drove Hondas and Acuras...I was very entertaining to them.

sammy2.jpg (60754 bytes)

Kids need to play, right?

sammy3wheels.jpg (65083 bytes)

I was living in a city at the time, and wanted to see how the Sammy articulated...this was the best place I could find. And the Samurai failed the test.

sammyvette1.jpg (63212 bytes)

A Vette being pulled by a REAL vehicle...yea, right...

sammyvette2.jpg (64220 bytes) sammysnorkel3.jpg (75582 bytes)

The start of my low buck snorkel.

sammysnorkel4.jpg (78834 bytes)

Just cut the hole...

sammysnorkel5.jpg (88075 bytes)

run the Sears Shop-Vac hose behind the battery...

sammysnorkel6.jpg (75210 bytes)

...and plug it into the airbox like it was made for it. Seal around the lid, and its water tight!

sammysnorkel7.jpg (74304 bytes)

Zip-tie it in place for that professional touch...

snorkeltest1.jpg (49578 bytes)

and find the deepest water you can! O.K., not very deep, but it was close by, and lots of fun.

snorkeltest2.jpg (45817 bytes) sammystuck1.jpg (51975 bytes)

I got a little carried away and got stuck on the ice.

sammystuck2.jpg (59301 bytes)

That's what friends are for!

sammystuck3.jpg (62197 bytes)

Just a little push did the job. You have to love 2000 lb. 4x4s!

sammystuck10.jpg (59533 bytes)

I did play on real trails with the Samurai. It was hung on the ice and wouldn't move.

ford1.jpg (51060 bytes)

Ford to the rescue! My friend didn't quite make it to me.

ford2.jpg (48355 bytes)

He slid back into this nice ravine. I had already driven down it and backed out (notice the narrow tire tracks behind the truck)

ford3.jpg (42425 bytes)

He wasn't going anywhere for a while. Oh well, walk back to his house for the night, and crack open some beers.

wrecker.jpg (47783 bytes)

After he got pulled out the next morning...

sammystuck11.jpg (83482 bytes)

...he came in and pulled me out.

sammystuck12.jpg (63761 bytes)

Then it was my turn when he got to some mud.

conn6.jpg (61068 bytes)

Stock Sammy, stock tires, and a snorkel...as you can see there is a reason for it!

conn7.jpg (55986 bytes)

Unfortunately it doesn't help when high centered.

lift1.jpg (58170 bytes)

Acme Portable Samurai...just pick it up and carry it with you!

hackedsammy.jpg (59613 bytes)

Here is the poor Sammy on its final outing.  It has 33" Swampers with NO LIFT! They barely touched the fenders when twisted.  Sawz-Alls are cool!

electric_ave.jpg (87777 bytes)

My '92 YJ with CJ nose.

electric_ave5.jpg (67162 bytes)

Other than the nose, its bone stock.  It may have the full cage in these pics though.

1jeep9.jpg (112786 bytes)

The same Jeep after a couple quick mods and some partially worn 33" Swampers.

1trail38.jpg (103646 bytes)

My Tensen 12,000 lb. electric winch is also mounted.

1trail54.jpg (96724 bytes)

Considering the suspension was mostly stock, and it flexed decently, I'm surprised the 33s didn't rub.

myjeep2.jpg (48627 bytes)

Here is a decent shot of the full cage I built.

3wheels.jpg (53303 bytes)

Same Jeep after a spray can paint job.  I had removed the winch for New Hampshire legal reasons.  I built the simple front bumper shortly before this pic was taken.

brookline12.jpg (70488 bytes)

Those ledges were very icy! We could barely walk on them.

brookline26.jpg (64811 bytes)

Carnage at that point was limited to a broken shock and exhaust...

brookline30.jpg (69300 bytes)

...until the rear axle pinion yoke exploded at this exact time!  Notice front tires spinning, rear aren't?

halfbreed3.jpg (64856 bytes)

And this is how it sits now. I have quite a few more pictures of this Jeep, but I'll wait until I separate this page into categories.

wagoneer2.jpg (81038 bytes)

Good shot of my Grand Wagoneer in action.  It was used to tow heavy loads, but also did a little light to moderate 4-wheeling.

toyunderwtrx.jpg (103753 bytes)

My Toyota pickup.  It survived this swamping, and even drove home afterwards.

5.jpg (49953 bytes)

In this shot you can see the snorkel that went on right after I swamped the truck.  Snorkel worked great!

1sammy16.jpg (93369 bytes)

Another of my Samurais, right after painting.

1sammy12.jpg (33403 bytes)

And this is a week later.

jeep17.jpg (84142 bytes)

'85 CJ-7.  Fresh from an overnight camping trip.

jeep2.JPG (72166 bytes)

There is something about red vehicles...they always seem to end up on their sides.

jeep4.JPG (43929 bytes)

That washout is actually pretty deep.  To the right of the Jeep (left of the picture) is a LONG steep drop I was trying to keep away from.

jeep13.jpg (74777 bytes)

This is right after the roll.  Not much damage, just a slight dent on the passenger fender.

1sammy1.jpg (71298 bytes)

My second Samurai.  I had a lot of fun with this one, and won some trophies with it.  Those trophies are a second and third place in the modified class.  I let my friend Tony run it in the stock class, where he took first.
