.+Merle+. . Stats + Gallery .Born on the evening of May 27, 1986, Merle was quickly sold over to the Organization. Yet another unwanted child of poverty-stricken parents.. In truth, her parents didn't even name her. That was the duty of her nurse, who cared for her for those few months before she could sit up. Just like any other child of the Organization. But it would seem that Merle wasn't cut out for the life she was given into.. However, she was extremely trustworthy. And that was how she ended up with the duty she was given. Merle was Akatsuki's tool and secret weapon in the project which created a long-worked-on clone by the name of Ayame. Her role? Ayame's best friend. She was, of course, a true friend to the older girl in every way she possibly could be: but the Organization knew where Merle's loyalties lied. She would not betray what they meant to do with her. When Ayame was nine years old, thus Merle eight, Akatsuki ordered Ayame to assassinate Merle. Not even Merle knew that was coming: it was, in truth, the most viscous shock of her life. But what happened next... Ayame could not. Merle was her best friend. She simply did not have the heart to murder her. And this Akatsuki realized to be a flaw in his " ultimate weapon ". Emotions would get in the way of every mission that he ever gave her. So they ejected Ayame. She was sent to America. The land where children roamed the streets free. Needless to say, Merle was shocked. How could he do this? How? Akatsuki was a caring man. This was not the way he ran the Organization, turning child against child.. The Organization was a relatively caring place. There was no crime of any sort, nothing horrible.. All of the teachers were either adored for their kindness or despised for their strictness, but no child wandered the halls fearing assault. Or thinking that this education that they received was not for their personal benefit, and that they would not have the option to do whatever they wanted with their lives when they reached the age of fifteen. But Akatsuki had done it. Whether it was sane or not, he had done it. And Merle was falling apart. She was labelled a lunatic by many, and pitied by some. But there was one person in the entire Organization that sympathized to the point of affection. Shinji was his name. Shinji was a tall boy, even at the age of twelve. And he was silent and brooding, although his attacks were deft and precise, which made every teacher praise him. Shinji was, in general, more the " ultimate weapon " that Akatsuki had wanted than Ayame had been. But despite his silence, Shinji was a deeply emotional person: and it would seem that he had fallen in love with young Merle -- a relatively common-place thing in the Organization. Merle, of course, was equally infatuated with him. They became close friends -- one of the branded " couples " of the Organization. But mating was strictly disallowed by Akatsuki, of course, since the eldest children residing there were fourteen. And sure enough, three years passed in a flash: Merle was eleven when Shinji was fifteen, and sent into the world. She expected never to see him again.. Most of the children happilly left their life-long home to either A) find their true love, B) make use of their skills, or C) learn new skills at this age. But Shinji shocked everyone by turning around and promising the rest of his life to the Organization in order to stay with Merle. Of course, four years later when Merle " graduated ", she promised her life as well. Shinji could not break the vow he'd made, and Merle would not leave him. He had not left her -- it would be unfair. And it made her happy to be with Shinji... Within a year, they'd installed themselves at a kickboxing center in a random US city. There Merle rapidly gained fame for her abilities: her first loss came when she had a match with Rhyu Masahoshi, another rather popular fighter. She soon learned that he was the lover of the famed Relena Iron: the idol of all the rebel children in the school. Merle, like most of them, had never really wanted to escape. But this Relena, apparently, had tasted life away from the Organization, and did not want to give it up. It was interesting speaking with her and her lover after her defeat.. but the next time they met was not so wonderful. For a burglar came. He tried to steal a bunch of things from the training room, but Merle made an attempt to stop him, and he fired a gun.. It was made plain that Shinji had never been kidding when he said that he would take a bullet for Merle. Because that was what he did that day. And the bullet would kill him. Merle soon found out that her parents had been one of those couples who had received information on her progress throughout her stay at the Organization. And now they knew that she was alone, and without anyone she loved. It was then that they decided to call her and tell her that she would be coming home.. And what would happen afterwards. Which shattered her. Merle was being married off for the convenience of her parents : wouldn't it figure ? But there was nothing she could do about it. So she packed her bags, got onto the side of the road, and stuck out her thumb with the destination as the train station. But, lo and behold, Merle was picked up by a former Organization member by the name of Snake -- and he let her come home with him. He even agreed to fake being her fiance in order to save her from such a fate. Merle fell madly in love with him, and he with her, and they have enjoyed a long partnership in assassination. Recently, while upon a cruise boat, Snake asked Merle to marry him, making Merle the happiest woman in the world. She'll do all she can to be his perfect woman, and his perfect wife. |
