Language allows us to communicate with people throughout the world. Did you know that there are more than 2,700 languages in the world? On the other hand, there are more than 7,000 dialects being used. Dialects are regional forms of language that vary in pronunciation, vocabulary and/or meaning. The language in which a government conducts business is the official language of that country.
Chinese Mandarin is the
language widely spoken. Approximately 885 million of the world's population
is communicating through this language. English ranks the third spot as most
used language. All pilots on international flights identify themselves in
English.On the continent of Africa, more than 1,000 different languages are spoken. Many languages include a "click" sound that is pronounced at the same time as other sounds. One must learn these languages during childhood in order to speak it properly. Somalia is the only African country in which the entire population speaks the same language, Somali. The Berbers of North Africa have no written form of their language.
The most difficult language
to learn is Basque, which is spoken in northwestern Spain and southwestern
France. This language is not related to any other language in the world. It
has an extremely complicated word structure and vocabulary.Language is a beautiful thing and it is an advantage if you know how to speak a variety of it.
