Details: Gravity Assisted Cross Country. Start at Capitol Peak 2659ft, racers go out every 30 seconds. 14 miles of semi-technical singletrack switchbacks later (with plenty of pedaling), finish at 250ft.

Summer Ride Fest (MTB Festival)

Canadian SS Championships (SS Race)
Date: October 12
Location: Cumberland, BC
Details: Held at Cumberland, BC on Vancouver Island. Free Micro-Brewed CANADIAN BEER! Fresh Wild seafood BBQ killer eats ... and LOTS of treats ... (hint hint). Need a place to stay?? Riding Fool Hostel

Entry fee is $30 Cnd and includes the BBQ and beer. The course last year was described as a fun romp thru the woods. Some up & down, logs, roots the usual BC stuff (Not steep stupid stuff, though). Course may change due to logging and won't be finalized until the week before the event. Cumberland is about 1hr10min north of Nanimo on Vancouver Island. Best ferry terminal to use is the Twassen Ferry south of Vancouver. Due to this being the same weekend as the Canadian Thanksgiving, it is highly recommended to get ferry reservations.

Gearing: the rider I talked to uses a 32x18 in the summer and 32x20 in the winter for trails in that area.
