name registration fees (such as http://www.yourbusiness.com)
are $24 per year plus about a half hour of set up time. We use Low-Cost
Domains. This is the best service that we have found because they
offer free domain forwarding, free
email forwarding, and offer a free server-based
email address such as youpick@yourdomain.com. They are also the
easiest to use for using paid webhosts. It's a snap to update name
servers or change domain forwarding. In short, Low-Cost Domains
works for any size business, and they keep it simple.
As
a temporary and inexpensive option or for very small or beginning
businesses or clubs, the long name of a free host (we prefer geocities)
can be masked by a the paid domain name. Visitors will only be able
to tell that you are on a free host because of the advertising that
is placed on the site by the free server (which is acceptable to
some people and not to others). You can graduate to a paid host
at any time as your business grows.
