Reproductions Website Services
There
are several options for hosting.
Free
hosting is an option (although not highly
recommended, it has its purposes) for very small or beginning businesses;
the long name of the free host server can be masked by a paid domain
name for $24 a year. Our
preferred free host is Geocities because of excellent up-time and
the add-ons they offer such as counters, guestbooks, maps, weather,
etc.
Visitors will only be able to tell that you are on a free host because
of the advertising that is placed on the site by the free server.
If you like, it costs $5 a month to stop the ads. You can graduate
to a paid host at any time as your business grows, which is only
$5 a month more than stopping the ads on a free server!
Paid
hosting
for the majority of sites is well-worth it,
even if you only have five pages in your site, at the beginning
level of $10 per month, available on monthly ($10), bi-annually
($55), or yearly ($110), and needs to be paid in advance with the
downpayment for design work. Paid hosting is highly recommended
to eliminate obnoxious free host advertising on your site which
annoy visitors, slow download time, and destroy my beautiful designs.
Downtime is minimal, in fact I have never experienced an outage
notice with my host. Graphics suchs as logos and photos load much
more quickly on paid servers, making the visit more enjoyable for
your clients. They are more likely to stay and view more pages.
It is always a challenge to get visitors to visit the interior pages
of your site, with so many of them still using dial-up internet
and low on time and patience. Paid hosting is an important first
step.
More
expensive hosting for large businesses needing
higher capacity is also available at $25 (regular server), $50 (secure
server) and $100 per month (secure server) depending on the storage
demands and programming features you need for your business. If
you are confused about whether you need these services, I can tell
you that $25 a month service is for a very large website with hundreds
of pages. You can fit a fairly large website on the $10 per month
size server. $50 a month is the minimum for a secure server for
e-commerce (which also requires a credit card merchant account),
so if you want shopping carts you need to plan for this level of
hosting. $100 a month is a tremendously large website such as that
needed by a corporation. Downtime with these plans is a rarity.
Which
each additional level of hosting, more email addresses are provided
should you want them. These email addresses can be set up to forward
to your already-established email addresses of your staff or company's
consultants allowing your company to appear more integrated.
Depending
on the service you need--which requires careful consideration as
some companies are geared to different markets--I use different
hosting companies (Wyatt Web or Verio), but you pay your hosting
to Dandee Reproductions along with other services in one simple
payment. I charge about a half hour of setup labor to set up your
host.
Why
wait to have a website? It's more affordable than you think, and
I can help make the process as uncomplicated as possible!
