MEETING TIME/LOCATION
The Mohawk Cub Pack meets every Monday from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Red Barn, 20609 Lakeshore Road, Baie D'Urfe - except for special events such as camping, hiking or outing ventures. There will be a leader at the Barn by 6:45 pm every Monday. Inspection and the collection of weekly dues begins at 7:00 pm sharp. Cubs who arrive late will not only miss out on some of the activities, but may cause their Six to lose points. The initial newsletter to new Cubs and Parents to start off the season is found at this link.
INSPECTION
A key component of each meeting is pack inspection. Each week the Cub Sixes earn points, the winning Six receiving a prize at the end of two months. A grand prize is awarded at the end of the season. The most current standings by Six - earned when cubs pass inspection, earn badges or win team games, is posted on the Cub Points web page. Gizzles can be used as an alternate reward system. The requirements for Cub badges can be found on the Badge web pages. Cubs are supposed to know the Wolf Cub Promise, Law, Motto and Grand Howl - in either English or French. These can be found on the Wolf Cub Promise, Law, Motto and Grand Howl web page. Various statements about the Spirit of Scouting can be found on the Cubs' Own page.
Inspections are worth 60 points/Six (prorated depending on number of Cubs in attendance that week). During inspection each Cub can loose one point each for not bringing in their dues, Cub book, paper, pencil, not having a clean uniform, shoes untied, scarf put on poorly, undone buttons, dirty paws/fangs/fur and not standing at attention.
A drawing of the uniform can be found on this web page.
Games; 20 (1st place), 15 (2nd place), 10 (3rd place), 5 (4th place).
Badges; 15 (Stars), 10 (Award Badge), 5 (Achievement Badge).
Complete Cub Star, Badge and Award requirement descriptions: Black, Green, Tawny, Red, Blue and Purple

WHAT TO DO ON THE FIRST PACK MEETING
Notes to New Cubs and Their ParentsRefer to the attached drawing depicting the official Cub uniform. Cubs must wear the full uniform to all meetings and Cub outings, including travel to and from camps. Parents must provide the shirt, woggle, belt, buckle and navy blue pants. We will provide the pack neckerchief, epaulettes, six badge, Town, District and Province Town crests. The diagram shows the correct placement of badges, etc. If you have any questions, just ask any of the Leaders.
Cubs should always come prepared to spend part of the meeting outdoors. The middle letters of Scouting spell out, and we will often go outside. This means that they must have the appropriate clothing (including hats, gloves, boots, etc.) according to the season. Please ensure that your Cub also brings appropriate indoor footwear. No wet outdoor footwear (i.e. snowboots) will be allowed in the meeting hall. Cubs without running shoes, (or others appropriate for indoor games), will not be allowed to participate in any indoor games involving running - it’s simply too dangerous.
Each Cub must also have his/her own copy of The Cub Book, in English or in French. This book describes the program and all the associated badges, stars and awards. Parents should spend some time looking through the book with their Cub.
Check out the Tenderpad requirements. Help your Cub practice the Motto, Law and Promise in preparation for investiture. Which badges interest your Cub? For new Cubs, some Badges that can often be earned quite easily include: Team Player, Collector, Cooking, Reader and Language Strip (for testing in languages other than English, French and German we will need some help). Cubs can also get parts of a Badge or Star signed off as they complete them, without having finished the whole thing. At most meetings, and at camps, we will have activities that tie in with Badge work - sometimes we will explicitly tell them, other times it will be up to them (perhaps with your help) to make the connection.
The uniform items and book can be purchased at the Scout Shop. The staff are very helpful. The shop also carries a lot of other interesting merchandise including craft supplies, backpacks and camping supplies, etc. Be sure to inform them that you are with our Pack - a tally is made of all monies spent by the group from now to the end of December, and the Group Committee receives a percentage back. This little refund helps to finance some of our activities.
At weekly meetings we also collect $1.00 in dues from each Cub. The purpose of this is to help teach responsibility. If the Cub receives an allowance, it may be his/her responsibility to pay the dues; but all Cubs have the responsibility of remembering to bring their dues.
At the beginning of each meeting there is an inspection to see that Cubs are wearing their uniforms properly. Each Cub must also have his/her Cub Book, paper and pencil, and pay the $1.00 dues at this time. Points are deducted for missing items.
Parents are always welcome to stay and observe the meeting — of course you may be asked to participate, but that only adds to the fun for your Cub! Your comments and suggestions are welcome; just speak to Akela or one of the other leaders.
Scouts Canada Baie d’Urfé is open to all, regardless of financial situation. This refers to Registration fees, uniform and book costs, and the fees associated with camping trips. For more information, speak to Akela. Your inquiry will be handled in confidence.
