Highlight of Events from 2001
Young Women's Retreat

Guest Speaker:
Noelle Hadley spoke to us about Freedom in Christ and based her weekend of talks off the text found in John 8:32, "The Truth will set you free".   At the end of the weekend all the girls were given a T-shirt with the word "Freedom" printed on the front with small rhinestones.

Workshop Presenters:
The presenters were Marit Balk, Esmie Branner, Shonna Dalusong, Carri Dunning, Audrey Weir-Graham, Shannon Knobloch, Gina Kuest, Loralie Osborn and Helen Shells.  Some of the topics were: relationships, family, the story of Esther, learning how to be yourself, diet, and future goals and dreams.

Fashion Show:
The fashion show was coordinated by Julia Hagen a fashion designer from the Napa Valley.  The theme for the fashion show was "Charlie's Angels" and focused on the retro fashions that are coming back into vogue.  It showcased vintage fashions that are most likely available at your neighborhood thrift store.  The clothes from the show were auctioned off following the fashion show for a very low and affordable rate!  The money earned from the auction was used to pay for the expense of putting on the professionally done show.

Make-Overs:
At the beginning of the Fashion show there were drawings for 8 make-overs which were done following the Fashion show by a professional Mary Kay Consultant.

Small Groups:
Small groups met following every main session.  The groups were structured for the girls to share their ideas, questions, stories and struggles. Many new friends were made during this time.

Special Drawings and Gifts:
At every main session there was a small gift on each girls chair when they came into the meeting.  The gifts that were handed out were Victoria Secret lotions and shower gels, hair clips, stickers and CD's.  All items were given to the Young Women's Retreat at a generously discounted price by some popular stores like  Victoria's Secret and Claire's.  Also donated by different Women's Ministries representing several churches in the Northern California region, were beautiful gift baskets which were given away to the lucky girl whose name was pulled from a box.

Warm Fuzzy Board:
The Warm Fuzzy Board was also a huge hit and was immediately and constantly filled with messages of encouragement to one another.  Many lives were touched during this weekend and the Warm Fuzzy Board was a great way of communicating.
