Guest Speaker:

Joelle Reed - Joelle was born in South Carolina and moved to Southern California in time to start high school.  She graduated from Pacific Union College with a Theology degree and is dynamic, energetic, smart, fun and not afraid to travel the world by herself - in fact that is what she did last year!  Joelle has some great stories to tell not only from her travels but also how she has experienced God in all sorts of circumstances. She is convinced that God is just right "for such a time as this".

Music Leader:
Challi Bushey - Challi (pronounced "Sholly" and rhymes with "holly") Bushey started playing the piano when she was nine and later added more instruments to her musical skills.  As a teen she found that her relationship with God had more life when she began to express herself through writing songs.  Challi has shared her music with many people in a variety of settings. She is home schooled and took the evangelism course at Black Hills Mission College.  For the past two years she has ministered in the Northern California Conference as a Bible Worker.

Workshop Presenters:

Alison Coon - Although the kinetic energy of God dwells inside us, we are often stifled when it comes to expressing it.  In any relationship you must guard yourself by looking at the signs, including hazardous ones, that show the future.  When you step back, abusive patterns may appear, but happy endings are possible.  Through kinetic expression (dance) and the Biblical example of God's plan, Alison will explain her experiences.  So, let's dance!
Alison Coon is a Public Relations and Journalism major at PUC.  She enjoys rollerblading, surfing, bodyboarding and wakeboarding, but her passion is Kinetic Expression.  She has taken classes for 15 years and was an instructor for 2 years.  She yearns to incorporate this expression into her Christian walk.

Pilar Collins - What could be more satisfying than friendship? It is like a garden that requires the right care.  Do you long to have a friend that will love you unconditionally?  Are you a friend people desire to have?  This seminar will teach you how to be a better friend and how to become a vessel of love, "A Jesus With Skin On" for God to use in touching others lives.
Pilar Collins is 36 years old and has been married for almost 14 years.  She is a mother of 3 children.  Pilar says she knows how important friendships are through personal experience.  There have been pits in her life where God has provided a friend who was "Jesus with skin".

Jolynn Fisher - Havve you ever felt like you just don't belong?  Like you're looking for your place to fit?  Well, sure we all do sometimes.  But how do you handle that feeling when you're at church or when you're with other Christians? Being adopted gave me a unique perspective on how I fit in---not only with my family but also with my church and my world in general.
Jolynn Fisher is the assistant editor of the Pacific Union Recorder.  Though an Oregon native, she has lived in Southern California for the past 6 years.  She enjoys traveling, coaching varsity basketball at the local academy and attending "The Place", a young adult church in Thousand Oaks.

Gina Kuest - While creative journaling can be used to help you visualize and discover your dreams, the main focus of this workshop will be to learn how to visualize your prayers.  Putting your prayers into pictures is one way to come boldly before God as He has challenged us to do.  Come to this workshop and learn a fun, new and exciting way to communicate with God---the One who gives us creativity!
Gina Kuest was born in Sydney, Australia and was raised as a missionary kid in India and Singapore.  She graduated from Pacific Union College with a degree in Nursing and currently works as an Operating Room Nurse.  Gina is an artist, writer and musician and loves to be involved in ministry. Gina and her husband Jason live in Roseville with their 3 pets Sam the Golden Retriever, Xerxes the cat, and Sydney the Chinchilla.

Michelle Rai - Explore the world of creative dating as we discuss male/female friendships, dating and courtship, and the relationship "game".  We will take an earnest look at the issues that young women face today in looking for a partner, including a Biblical perspective.  This seminar will also include a Q & A portion to address your burning questions that you've been too shy to ask---until now!
Michelle Rai cultivated her favorite pastimes of eating, sleeping, surfing, and playing volleyball while growing up in Honolulu, Hawaii.  She graduated from Pacific Union College in 1997 and is currently the Assistant Director of Enrollment Services there.  Michelle and her husband David celebrated their two-year anniversary last September.

Helen Shells - Where does Jesus fit in your life?  Ever wonder?  What will I be?  Where will I live and how will I make a living?  In discovering how to make Jesus #1 in our lives, instead of #101, we will begin to see the puzzle pieces of life fall into place.  How exciting and wonderful to know just what to do with those 100 other things!  A practical, fun, and spirit-filled approach!
Helen means "light", which is how Helen sees her role as a Christian.  She travels extensively, speaking and singing. She has recorded and album "I'm Nobody, But My Father is the King". Now retired from the California Youth Authority (Special Education Department), Helen is a volunteer tutor and lay counselor.

Ellen Winn - Through experience and discussion we will bring into focus the often complex subject of one's self-esteem.  Where do my thoughts and feelings about myself come from?  How do I know if they help me or not?  How do I take charge of who I am?  Do others see the me I see?  Do I see the me that others see?  What does Jesus see in me?  We will review, express, and develop the role of our self-worth.
Ellen Anderson-Winn is a practicing clinical psychotherapist in Sacramento.  A Loma Linda University graduate, Ellen is also a licensed Marriage, Family and Child Therapist in California.  She specializes in identity and goal development as well as grief and loss issues.  She is married to a psychotherapist and has two daughters.
