2000

Welcome everybody! It's was an exciting week for the Summit Seekers of 2000. Although, it was extremely cloudy the whole time. We met at the church on Tuesday, as usual, and got to know each other. 35 people on Summit Seekers this year. We also saw the magnificent film of the 1999 trip put together by Tim D.
Wednesday we got up at 5:30 (which is always fun ... for the weird people) and left for New Hampshire at around 7:30. Once at camp we set up and ventured out to climb the ever famed Bald Mountain and Artists Bluff.
It turns out no weather man is perfect. We spent half of Thursday waiting for predicted rain that never came and decided to go out to climb Sugar Loaf. Great view of the presidential range from up there ... or so we where told. It was too clouded to see much of the tall mountains. Still, it was beautiful being up there. Friday morning we awoke early and left camp in silence to climb Mount Washington. We started climbing between 7 and 8 and I got to the top at 11:00 A.M. The fog was very thick. I found a Mt. Washington Observatory web site and picked up the weather report for the day we climbed the mount. I also picked up a picture taken from up there around 6 in the morning there.
Weather: Partly cloudy with undercast.
Temperature: 49°F
Wind chill 47°f
Wind: Northeast - 5 mph Ground: Damp
High Temp: 52°F Low Temp: 45°F
Peak wind gust: Southeast at 19 MPH Precipitation: 0.19" rain

That night we had the talent show. The idea used in the skit that Tim and I did in 1999 was used again this year. As you could imagine I felt honored ... but this new one was just a little poor done for my taste, but still funny.
Saturday we spent 5 hours in trucks and vans. Once back home at the church we unpacked the vehicles and went to the Ruwets for a swim, or for some, a boat ride or a game of tap with the frisbee.
Here are the pics for y'all to see.

The top of Mt. Washington had absolutely nasty weather this year. Here we are at the summit.
