Kenny's
Picks
Before
last season even began, I predicted that a team like the Bulldogs
could win BFL Bowl VII. Now, I didn't say it would be Andy, but
the point is that any team could make it to the BFL Bowl.
This
year, I have compiled some of the BFL's predictions from the people
that know the game quite well. Then, I entered their playoff scenarios
into a nice looking playoff tree so you can easily visualize who,
the BFL experts believe will be holding the Championship Trophy
high above their head on August 6, 2005.
Let's
start off with my BFL playoff picks. Last year, the Bulldog made
it to BFL Bowl. This year, I think we will see another new face
in BFL Bowl keeping the trend alive. My pick for the new team in
the championship game is going to be Ross of the Falcons. I believe
that Ross is going to be the most complete team the BFL has seen
on both offense and defense, right out of the gate. The Falcons
are going to be a high scoring, hard to stop team all season long
and he will be tearing up the scorecard.
Who
else will prove greatness in 2005?
The
returning Icebergs. Mark knows only winning in the BFL and this
year, that's not going to change. He has proven that he can beat
anyone in the league and he certainly has the desire to win the
BFL Bowl. I think the Icebergs would make a great opponent for the
Falcons in the BFL Bowl and I pick him to go to the big game.

Wild Card A - Sand Storm over Dragons
Wild Card B - Gamblers over Bulldogs
Wild Card C - Icebergs over Crusaders
Another
birthday game for yours truly. These two teams are no stranger to
providing dramatic moments. Let's look at a select few:
Crusaders:
June 16, 2003 - Down by as many as 21 points, the Crusaders stage
one of the biggest comebacks in BFL history, scoring a BFL record
30 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to defeat the Sand Storm
86-79.
July 2, 2003 - The Crusaders push the Sparrows to overtime, only
to fall short, 79-78.
May 23, 2004 - Down by 14 with under a minute to play, the Crusaders
score two touchdowns and barely win in overtime against the Fear,
79-77.
July 24, 2004 - In a postseason classic (which also happened to
be on my birthday), the Crusaders almost erase an 18-point deficit
to the Sparrows, only to lose it on the last play.
Icebergs:
June 13, 2003 - Before their encounter in BFL Bowl VI, the Icebergs
and Black Knights met in a highly anticipated showdown. It did not
disappoint, with the two teams taking it to the final play, which
saw the Icebergs score a game-winning touchdown to win it, 56-54.
July 28, 2003 - In a playoff shocker, the Icebergs outscored the
Sparrows 23-7 in the fourth period and ran over them, 79-61, en
route to their first BFL title.
Semifinal A - Black Knights over Icebergs.
Semifinal B - Gamblers over Sand Storm
This one's gonna be good. Two VERY deserving teams. But unfortunately,
as always, only one will move on. I think the Gamblers are more
deserving of a BFL Bowl spot than any team in history. The Gamblers
have been consistent playoff contenders since 2000, but they always
fall very short of that elusive BFL championship spot. This year
could very well be the year they finally cross that high hurdle.
BFL Bowl VIII - Gamblers over Black Knights.
This is their time. Just like the Red Sox in the last World Series,
the Gamblers will exorcise their postseason demons once and for
all.

Jason
Deger's Picks
There
is nothing better then thinking about summer time as we dig out
from snowstorms, after snowstorms. 2005 has the potential to be
a very exciting year in the BFL. First of course, is the return
of the Snowhill Icebergs, winner in 2003. The Icebergs took a leave
of absence in 2004 but will be coming back strong and ready for
high powered BFL action. Second, is the continue success and improvement
of the Sand Storm, who had a tough go in 03, but came out strong
in 04. Third, the BFL has continued to expand with the introduction
of the Pelham Falcons and the Hustlers. And I guess we need to mention
that once again the Sparrows will be defending their championship
but this year winning it all will not come as easy to those high
flying Sparrows but a another playoff berth seems definite. Unfortunately
two teams will not be back with the BFL, the Express will not be
playing in 05, as Jason Sanders of the Peggy Express continues to
rehab the knee that was severely damaged in his 2nd game of the
2004 season, and the fill in team of the Buffalo Sea Raiders, will
not be playing again and will be going back to where he belongs,
as the head BFL commentator or fill in Quarterback.
Now
for my picks for 05, before we begin I would like to mention, my
pick last year sort of did not work out, due to injury, but I believe
the Express had the chance, and they were rolling on the right track,
so in my mind I have been right with my picks of the winner the
last 2 seasons.
1.
Dragons 3-0
2. Icebergs 3-0
3. Sparrows 2-1
4. Produce 2-1
5. Sand storm 2-1
6. Black Knights 1-2
7. Gamblers 1-2
8. Bulldogs 1 -2
9. Fear 1-2
10. Hustlers 1-2
11 Crusaders 1-2
12. Falcons 0- 3
Wild
Card Game A - Icebergs vs. Gamblers = (2) Icebergs win
Wild Card Game B - Sparrows vs. Black Knights = (3) Sparrows win
Wild Card Game C - Produce vs. Sand Storm = (5) Sand Storm win
Dragons get the automatic bye
In
the semi finals, the Dragons will have the advantage of the bye
and the Sparrows will finally get revenge on the Ice Bergs, a team
the Sparrows has had problems with in the past.
Semi
Final game A- Dragons vs Sand Storms = Dragons win
Semi Final game B - Icebergs vs Sparrows= Sparrows win
BFL
Bowl VII
In
this competitive match-up between the Sparrows and the Dragons,
the two teams would be very evenly matched and it either team could
come out of it as BFL champion
I like
the Dragons to beat the Sparrows in a close high scoring match.
