June
10, 2005- This season, one team on top of the league standings had
been ripping teams apart. Last night Akil, of the Allison Hustlers
(2-0), beat the Crusaders in impressive fashion once again.
After
the Crusaders took a 7 point lead to start the game off, Akil easily
scored touchdowns against the stingy Crusaders defense. Tied at
21, Akil picked off his first of 2 Jason D. passes on a ball that
was supposed to be thrown away. Akil ran in back for the touchdown
and a 30-21 lead. This play was soon dubbed, "The Bonehead
Play." He would not look back from their.
The
Hustlers out scored the Crusaders 30-7 in the second quarter scoring
on a Interception return, a throwoff return, and two touchdown grabs.
The
Crusaders gained momentum to start off the second half by getting
an interception, but Akil defense would not allow the Crusaders
to score a touchdown, getting a defensive stop.
The
Hustlers, soon were leading by 37 points and won the game 88-57.
Akil's
next game is against his arch rival, the 1-1 Gamblers in the Greens
Bowl.
Notes:
-Akil is the first team to clinch a playoff birth in 2005.
-After winning the coin toss, the Huslters picked to go down hill
to aviod the sun light in the first half.
-Jason D. quarterbacked his first game of the year, 16 touchdowns,
3 Interceptions.
