In 2001, our GardenZeitgeist centered on
improving existing beds and the repositioning
(again!) of flowers and shrubs as we attempt to
find the perfect mix.
|

|
Unfortunately we lost our beautiful and
prolific rose of sharon which had been the
centerpiece of the patio garden. This year we are
experimenting with heights and colours.
|

|
Lamb's ears and tiny pink lithrium rest in
front of pink coneflower, then low yellow coreopsis
followed by spectacular lemon daylilies with white
potentilla just finishing and yellow helen's flower
just begining to bloom to the left and bronze
daylilies and white phostegia to the right.
|

|
It has been a very dry summer which has
turned our spectacular lush green spring lawn to
brown - we'll have to wait for the cooler weather
of autumn to regain that beauty.
|

|
The garden along the south fence has been our
focus this year. We brought in a truckload of
mushroom compost to make these heavy clay beds
workable - that's a lotta horse-poop!
|

|
The side entrance to the backyard shows off
the hostas planted beneath the sugar maple and the
new southfence beds beyond.
|

|
Follow the hidden walkway to our new back
corner bed presently used to temporarily hold the
plants from the southfence bed. A cedar hedge along
the back will provide some privacy from the
schoolyard behind.
