We are headed into the final stretch of the
2002 Garden Tour as we leave the back of the yard
and head east towards the house again.
|

|
[ABOVE]
Along the south side of the pool, we have our well
established garden of alternating groups of
white
daises and lemon
daylilies. A new addition to this garden
are two clematis - one light
blue and one darker purple - just
starting to climb the pool fence.

Over in the far northeast corner of the yard, by
the pool shed, is a small garden along the fence
that has been unlucky for rosebushes, groundcovers
and tulip and hyacinth bulbs we have tried there.
This year we are trying a mixture of orange and
lemon
daylilies.

[RIGHT]
Against the back wall of
the house we have started a white 'nelly
moser' clematis to help break up the large
expanse of brick. It seems to be taking
its time growing and we may have to look
into either replacing it or adding another
or two on additional trellises to make
this more 'showy.'

Finally, we return across the patio and head back
to the south gate where this tour started. We have
reworked this garden under the bedroom windows
keeping the larger holly and japanese yew
evergreens while adding a selection of
perennials.

Along the back are helen's flower, white phostigia,
and pink lithrum. The middle row is made up of
yellow
columbine, purple veronica,
red-white
columbine, and pink phostigia. The front
row contains bluebells, Cranesbill
geranium and white campanula. Lamb's
ears will quickly fill in to form a nice edging for
this bed.

And that's the tour for June 2002. I hope you
enjoyed it and I hope this gives you a good sense
of how our gardens are 'shaping up!"
UPDATE:
Please notice the recent additions for July (the
Patio garden including many new ictures in our
plant chowcase, updated and more colourfull
pictures of the South Pool Garden and Pool Shed
Garden and the wonderfully comfortable new Muskoka
chairs to help us enjoy our gardens.
I will continue to add aditional pictures to
this tour and to the plant showcase to illustrate
each plant at is best and the gardens at different
times of the year. Please check back occasionally
to see what has been added to the tour!

And as for me ... for now, I'm going to sit
with my feet up in the shade and enjoy the beauty
of the gardens and the music of the birds that have
made their summer home here.
