The youth chamber choir "Zhajvir" was founded in the year 1998 as a creative laboratory attached to the Lviv Secondary School №11. The name of the choir originated as an equation with the genuine spring singing of the lark (in Ukrainian this bird is called 'zhajvir'), whose singing is never off-key or insincere. During the time of functioning as the laboratory, the participants of the choir fulfilled different creative tasks. This was the organization of the soirees for the junior and senior classes and the conduction of the illustrated lectures dedicated to the creative activities of the classical composers, both foreign and Ukrainian; the choir also organized the parties of the contemporary and pop music.

Since September 2000 we have existed in the Center of Children and Youth Creative Activity of Galicia. The wide range of possibilities of different competitions, festivals, and interesting creative meetings was opened in front of us there.

"Zhajvir" joined in the work of the Center, continuing its already established traditions and gaining new ones. This is the way the young talented ensemble was brought into existence.
