GRADING PROCEDURES
All National University Classes

It is always helpful to know what the Instructor is looking for in a written assignment.  Below are some guidelines to follow that will help to insure you obtain the maximum number of points available for the assignment.

1.  Use a spell check program.  I will be using the spell check in Word.  In a major assignment you should not have more than 2 misspelled words.  Unless there are massive amounts of misspelled words, the deduction is normally 5-10%

2.  Use proper punctuation and syntax.  A paper without paragraphs or a paragraph that is longer than ½ page is most likely inappropriate and will be graded down.

3.  Make sure you address and develop complete answers for all the parts of the question.

4.  Each MCA assignment should include a title page, an abstract and a bibliography.  References should be within the text rather than at the bottom of the page or at the end of the assignment.

5.  Each question and discussion topic has a specific number of words.  Although I believe some can complete the assignment with fewer words than others, a leeway of + or - 10% will be allowed without penalty.

6.  Late work will be assessed a 10% penalty for each day it is overdue.

7.  Any work that has a grade below a B can be rewritten to receive a grade of B.

8.  Make sure your name is on all work.

I will be grading the MCA assignments beginning on the day after the assignment is due.  I should have them completed within 2 days.  You will receive a grade and my comments concerning the paper through the drop box/grade book.

I will be reading the discussions throughout the week and will be responding to the posts as I feel the post needs a response.

This is your class and I wish it to be most beneficial to you.  As such, if there are items you wish to discuss or explore in more depth, please let me know by email.  I will respond within 24 hours.  If you are using my hotmail account, please place the course number in the topic box, as these go into my junk mail folder and if I do not recognize the address, I do not open the email (sorry, security issues).
